Wow!!
I think they sometimes do a water treatment to pop the grain. I'm not sure if this is correct, I read on one of DD leather descriptions that he does something like that to one of his A2 leathers....
Look at this...

This RMC looks pretty crooked laying flat, but it's all good once worn.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. First off, the jacket is really gorgeous, I'm very impressed by the hide. I do agree; however, that a remake is probably in order. I know that for me it would always be a nuisance.
I know that this has been discussed recently, but from the look of your Shinki and seeing RMC Shinki pics, I do believe now that DD and JC do get Shinki to NOT roll the hides as much as is typical, as their jacket seem to have much more grain coming out of the box. (unless they are doing something themselves to the leather upon arrival)
