He was ok.
I don't know...Tennant just really made the role come alive for me.

As much as I like Tennant, my Doctor is Christopher Eccleston. A being of that age with those experiences would have a lot of "baggage", and Eccleston has been the only actor so far that made me believe The Doctor felt the weight of the universe on his shoulders during the darker, less "glib and clever" moments.Everyone's Doctor is David Tennant, it seems.

Tom Baker is the Doctor I grew up with, but I agree with Al, of all the reboot Doctors I like Eccleston best. Maybe because he reminds me of that dude from Men at Work.

Humans. Continues to be good quality. I hope they don't try to cover every possible social and philosophical conflict within the first season. They keep introducing all these interesting frictions that are worth noting, but it doesn't appear that they're going to do anymore with them than slap them on the flypaper. A lot of shows have a problem with this, particularly period pieces. Cover everything. Explore nothing. No depth. If you're a writer, you don't have to research anything. Pull out an encyclopedia and hit the points.
Rectify. Has a nice, relaxing pace to it. I don't know whether it is a good show beyond that or not, but it is a good one for winding down. I'm liking this season more than last. "season" should be used lightly. I think they only have 6 episodes per season. Why?
Girls. I don't know how it happens, but I end up watching entire seasons here and there. It's nothing I watch on the regular or follow. Example: watched the first episode of this last season at a get-together. People can say what they want, but Lena Dunham consistently writes funny, interesting, apropos, or smart scenes or lines. You might not like the characters or subject matter, but the words are there a lot of the time. And then she directs and executive produces on top of the writing. An impressive talent. A lot of people are going to make their careers on her back. I can't find a lot of common ground in the strong generational bent of the show, but I do find value in her words. It all comes back to that.

I thought this season of Girls was its best yet... and as sixty-year-old man, I'm hardly the target demographic. But well-observed drama/comedy that portrays its characters with clarity generally always works for me.
For a look at twentysomething NYC girls who don't have the advantages of the ones on Girls (supportive parents, stunning looks, impressive jobs and connections, improbably nice living situations), check out the hilarious and very raunchy Broad City.

The finale of Wayward Pines. I can't believe this series was based on published novels! A great setup, a "high concept," as Hollywood has it. But there are large gaps in the background we're being asked to believe. I'd best say no more in case any of you are watching it . . . but I was disappointed.
