Indoor Headwarmers

If there's a thread on this already, I'm using the wrong search terms...

I elected to shave my head completely almost a decade ago ,after several years of tight buzzcuts failed to hide the fact that I had started to go bald in my mid twenties. Never regretted it (frankly, even given the option I wouldn't go back to having hair now), but at this time of year it does occasionally get a little chilly indoors. As I write this, I'm back in the office for the first time in three weeks, and it's certainly gone nippy in here with there being no heating on in that time. At home, I wear one of my dozen or so beautiful Fez-o-Rama fezzes. Not always suitable for the office, mind.... though as it's quiet, I'm wearing this one right now, as it happened to be in the office:

Is there anything out there that would keep the noggin warm, while being a bit more subtle, or should I just go looking for a plain smoking cap for the office? I've admired skull caps worn by Jewish and Muslim gentlemen both, but I would be uncomfortable with culturally appropriating a symbol of religious observance... Can't bring myself to go for a wool beanie...

Depends how subtle you want to be. There are plenty of stretchy caps around in stores this time of year. Sort of modern fabric watch caps. I see a lot that look like microfiber in with some of the athletic clothing at Target and such.
Otherwise, I would go with a lightweight fabric flat cap.

I'd think that a beret or casquette would work.If not, consider the technical fabric watch cap.

Daan at South Pacific Berets has some nice North African Chechias. They have some religious connotation from what I've read on his site, but are mostly everyday headwear. It just happens that the majority of people in that part of the world are Muslim. I wouldn't be concerned about appropriation. I see people wearing Pakols who are no more Muslim than I am. The difference between a smoking hat and a chechia is, well... I can't discern a difference.

SPB also has some nice, authentic, Moroccan Fezzes without all of the elaborate ornamentation.

Then again, as RJR mentioned, a small diameter beret (or any size, really) would be a wonderful indoor cover. I've worn mine in the house—just because it's comfortable.

Thanks, all - some helpful ideas here.

Could be something technical like that will be an option...

I did used to wear a little military beret round the house, that might be an option...

Aha! Now those look promising... I'm absolutely fine with something that's just 'traditional', and those do look very much the sort of thing i had in mind. I'll look into that, thanks.

Your ski-mask is not office appropriate? :D

Well, I tried it, but it made the English nervous.

And you try saying "But it's my national costume!" in my accent at airport security...
