I really like the gentleman's hat on the left. Neither he nor his wife have ever been positively identified from this pic but it is likely they were friends of & hosts to Frank James (center). Frank was probably enjoying some of the best yrs of his life after being acquitted at 3 trials for his crimes & then Missouri's governor refusing to extradite him to stand trial in Minnesota. He looks prosperous & healthy. This pic was probably taken ~1905, about 10 yrs or so before his death.

BB, you have probably heard the idea presented that if the radio/television character the Lone Ranger was in any way based on a real person it was most likely Bass Reeves. History Channel even mentioned that in one of their programs about Reeves.

Don't know if it was a law or not but Reeves had a good one that worked for him.

I liked everything about Bass. He wasn't just a gunfighter but a police officer in the truest sense. He worked undercover, used detective work and according to legend, never arrested the wrong man in over 3000 arrests.

I'm pretty sure the same thing is said of me. At least according to me.
