Some way down South Civil War era Dixie music. Performed by the 2nd South Carolina String Band in this 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg reenactment. Check out the straw hats the guys in the band are wearing.

And I'm with you on the straw topper. I want one now, too.

I was wondering if maybe Sunbody had that straw topper. That is one awesome looking lid.
Thanks for the link TJ. I had not seen that before & enjoyed the music very much. Always makes me misty eyed.

Most Civil War Suttleries carry those 3 hats. I don't recall the brand name in them but they are Guatemalan Palm with cloth sweats I believe. There is a suttlery near me that usually carries them. If you can't find one & would like some assistance, let me know.

Drizzle weather provided a backdrop for a walk this afternoon. Minnesota Laurentian mixed forests and the tall grass aspen forests meet in my backyard. The pines, aspens and tall grasslands share borders are within hiking distance. A Gannon Wanderer (frayed charcoal beaver felt) was my hat for an enjoyable couple of hours.

One of your BEST nights out, D. What an ensemble, topped off top shelf!! Even your foundation (shoes) is from the top shelf! Probably my all-time favorite shoe style, right there.

I remember my pediatrician wearing that style and always liked it because of the nice, clean look. Eventually good ol' Mom got me a pair of Johnson & Murphy Aristocrafts in mid-brown while in college, 1977. $75 then... Sure I still have and wear them! Maybe even today, for Mom's 90th! Thanks for the reminder!!!

Who made yours; they're VERY nice?!

Thanks, Hats! The shoes are made by my new favorite manufacturer, Carmina. They make great shell and calf shoes and boots. Think Alden with a European flare.
Happy Happy Birthday to your mother!!! We should all be so lucky to see that year.

You're very welcome, HJ. I love listening to that music too and those guys did a great job with it.

Thanks buddy. I would appreciate that. I looked on Sunbody's site and didn't see it on there.

Yesterday had me donning another of my conversions. Resistol Westerner. This is another hat that was gifted to me from Anthony, (Moon). I wasn't committed to the black two ply thin ribbon, though. But, I think I'll use it and sew it on the hat sometime this week. Still not sure if I can pull off the black color. It's my least favorite of colors for a hat.
I can't say I'm a big fan of black hats myself, but I think the proportions on that hat, and the color, suit you very well. If I were you I'd give it some serious consideration before I modified it.
