Not wearing anything with coyote fur on it; unlike cowhide which is a waste product of the food industry, these coyotes are bred and slaughtered merely for their fur; something I despise and will take no part in.

Me and my girlfriend just got Woolrich down parkas. They're awesome, slightly less baller than Canada Goose, but great quality all around and about half the price. I'd avoid the triple fat goose stuff if only because I can't believe they still exist and haven't heard a single word about them since I was in middle school.

I googled ‘goose down production’ and found that North America, Europe and Asia are the major producers. Not helpful but I strongly suspect that the manufacturers will purchase down from international suppliers who source their down from whosoever is cheapest at that time. I was surprised to find that Poland Hungary and China legally pluck live geese and that PETA is pushing to prevent this by buying up shares in the jacket makers. The country of manufacture should be on the label in the garment so perhaps someone who owns a jacket might have a look and post the answer?

Thanks Robrinay for your very helpful comments. Yes, I am aware of the horrible "plucking of live geese" that's going on in the countries you listed. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to know where the coyote fur and down was being sourced from, so I could avoid these companies.

On their website they have a "Responsibility Page" which explains the steps they take to reduce or eliminate animal cruelty in sourcing both the coyote fur and the goose down. It does not say where the jackets are made but I'm sure they will tell you if you ask them.

To answer your side question, its hard because nobody whos come across the thread knows. Also, if a thread goes off the first page, it typically slips into the great nothing that people just ignore. Dont get ****-hurt over people repeatedly bumping you to the top of the board even if theyre just being chatty.

Here is the answer directly from Triple FAT Goose. Although they are closed, they do have a "chat" feature that allowed me to ask my questions. Their jackets are made in China. The down is sourced from China and the coyote fur is sourced from Canada. The Responsibility Page really helped. Thanks to all for your great responses, they are all appreciated.

I'd wager that any coyote fur on a jacket no matter where it's made is sourced from Canada or parts of the U.S just based on where the species lives, and by PETA complaining about Canada Goose jackets also.

The fur is obtained by trapping and trust me there is no lack of coyote population and they are considered a pest and can legally be hunted any time of the year without a licence. Usually nothing is done with the animal other then left to scavengers so trapping and being used for fur is much less a waste in that regard.

I've recently read a whole bunch of articles pertaining to coyotes and from what I've read, you are 100% correct. Also, I could find absolutely no mention of "coyote fur farms."

The notion of a coyote farm is absurd, just some weird myth someone started. It would be prohibitively expensive unless the coyotes shat diamonds or something. Coyotes are strict carnivores, I don't know any fur so valuable that it's worth feeding and tending dangerous pack animals for months or years....except maybe Vicuna or something.
