Just been chatting with JL about that jacket. True it now is a hefty mark up. People on marrkt might know of The Few as they also sell RMC? But if so they’re going to know the price is steep. I had wondered if it was NOS from somewhere and hence the big price? But it seems it’s a trader taking a punt.

They made fantastic jackets. I have a Real McCoys M445 and it's probably the best sheepskin I have, even better than a Lost Worlds ANJ-4. It's a pity they shut up shop in New Zealand and the only way to get them these days is to order from Real McCoys Japan and pay insane prices, and sizing can be a problem as well.

Joe, remember RJ & RMNZ are two completely separate companies.
Here is a VERY rare RMJ Anj4 probably 20 years old or more.

Not an ANJ-4 but in the ball park and a rare beast. Throwing it in hear for anyone who may be on the lookout for a nice shearling.
For that price I would DEFINITELY go for Lost Worlds. The whole body of the jacket is one piece of leather. No seams in the back which was standard on ANJ-4 at least. lost worlds makes the best of the best. No question about it

RM Japan and the Few part way a long time ago. The Few used to be the factory where most if not all RM Japan's leather jackets were made in the old days and not limited to shearling jackets. I don't think RM Japan carry on making the ANJ-4 or M-444 or M-445. Toys McCoy is the only Japanese company making the M-444a now. Toys McCoy's owner was one of the founders of RM Japan. Founders of companies like Toys McCoy, Freewheelers, Rainbow Country, the Few, Pherrow's etc. all came out from RM Japan.

I agree that LW make a great Anj4.( I have a new one )

Sadly the goatskin has absolutely no character.
Some original WW2 Anj4's did have a seam in the back. Aero have an original of the same name with a two section back. Their copy is pretty good as good as LW.

Not only LW but also Eastman ANJ4s do not have that vertical back seam too.

Aero Anj4 jackets are on par with RMNZ Anj4. The sheepskin that Aero use is better than the one that LW use. The goatskin of the LW ANJ4 is like plastic and has no character. I had LW, Eastman and sold them both. Aero is the keeper.

The AN-J-4 is on my list...The Few or Aero? not sure yet.
Will be in Japan soon. Hope they ( The Few) do not only have children sizes available.

It will be rather difficult to find the Few now since they have closed down for over a year. All the stock are likely gone by now. Americaya 610 and Gorilla in Tokyo were dealers if you wish to take a look.

The Eastman “original maker” Poughkeepsie an-j-4 does also have a vertical seam on the back.

Thx, will try. Have several days in Tokyo, saw a few second hand jackets (mostly A-2’s and Nylons..) here and there...maybe more 2nd hand jackets to find.

No, it’s not on the website . I don’t know why that is, I tried the one on at the pop up shop last year and it was a good fit . Gary said the original one they have was a size 40r so they have the patterns for that size, so I ordered it then and received it in February . I will try and work out how to post pictures at the weekend .

I don’t think the shearling is nearly as thick. I just got mine from LW. Go see it at my instagram “milesdeathescape”
