For this winter, I wanted to order a shearling jacket.

But living in the south of France we don't have a lot of really cold days (about 3 to 4 weeks) so I don't need a really, really warm jacket.

Because of this, at first, I was looking for a B6. I liked it a lot but I was always eyeing the B3. Even my friends always told me the B3 looked better and more distinct than the B6 they found the design bland.. (they're not jacket junkies like us).

So I wrote to Holly and described my dilemma. She wrote back saying she put Sam in the loop and to see directly with her what could be done.

Sam, if you remember, is the pattern master who supervised my Shackleton vest and my Sheene.

She wrote me saying they could slim down a B3 and put a lightweight shearling inside without a problem. But first, we needed to see how a regular B3 fit on me. So a few days later I received a fit jacket to try on.

I got the fit jacket quickly, it was a size 42. Way too big but it was a base to begin the work.

Yeah I looked like Bibendum aka the Michelin man.

So after the fit pics Sam suggested to go a size down, sliming down the sleeves 1” at their widest point, narrowing each shoulders 0,5” and of course using a thinner sheepskin (15 ML instead of the regular 22 ML for a B3)

Et voilà the result

That looks fantastic: enjoy!

Whereabouts in the South are you based? I was at a wedding in Oloron Sainte Marie in August - it sure was hot compared to what I'm used to!

I live near Montelimar in the Rhône Valley. We often have the hottest temperatures. But we also have a really windy area, so during winter we can really feel the cold....
