Playing hooky under number 3 from Bill.

Stetson Panama

Friday is a great day. But I like it even more when that day is masquerading as a Saturday.

Happy weekend.

Nothing cleaves a path through high wind better than an aerodynamic stiff hat. Today, a late 19th c. union made derby sold from Concord, NH.

I am a sucker for a deep rolled derby like that! I’ve never seen a vintage one except in those Bat Masterson pictures. The wind... is precisely why I prefer stiff bowlers! My hat is off to this one today.

Caps suit you LP. You should check out both Cordova and Monsivais cap makers. Best handmade caps for the money. Hands down.

I will do that - Thanks for the tip
My flatcaps number to 6 units some new and some classic English made caps

Looks a lot like my Optimo

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Superior" probably late 1930s. Most likely designed not to wear with side dents so a Stiffer Soft Felt with very dense felt.

Amazing, Steve. Always a thrill to see a light coloured hat that has survived so well.
Wearing one of my favs as much as I can before it’s too hot outside. Brass Rooster custom. Enjoy.

Very nice, David. That ribbon is gorgeous.

View attachment 116898 View attachment 116899 View attachment 116900 Two hat days coming up. Errands this morning called for a light weight stingy from the early 1950s, Lees of London in a nice dark blue. The liner is what drew me to this hat, don't see many in lavender.
Tale of two homburgs. Wearing black hats at the theater (it is a stage ninja thing), giving that part of the collection a workout. Two 'burgs from the British Isles, yesterday a Battersby from the early 1950s, and tonight my Scottish R. W. Forsythe Ltd. from Edinburgh. Interesting comparison in lines. Both are very light with felt that is not as stiff on the brims compared to many Homburgs. First, the Battersby:

Lovely hats all of them, Mike. Pinches or no pinches on homburg makes a huge difference on their appearance. The colour of that Lees still gets me!

In Virginia Beach, International Workers' Day 2018 saw the arrival of two boxes from Texas.

@Bill Hughes was thinning his herd and, in an act of extraordinary kindness, he thought that my house might be a suitable habitat for six members of his flock.

Just in time, too. I've been worrying about my sorry lack of warm weather hats. And three of the new residents are straws.

As the heat wave kicks in today, I'll be keeping cool under this marvelous old Dobbs Milan.

Bill ROCKS!

Have a wicked Wednesday, all.
That's very generous of Bill, Matt. Sending them off to keep the feathered hats company must feel like sending them off to live in a hippie commune I guess. Lovely hat. I tend to think straws need a black or navy ribbon, but this works great.

Great look, Michael. Still trying to get my head around a straw homburg; I associate straws with informal wear, while homburgs are as formal as you can get, bar a topper.
