I can see why... that's about as bland and utilitarian as a station could get.

That bottom one was the first Pure design in twenty years to abandon every trace of the "cottage." C. A. Petersen must've been heartbroken.

What's going on with those socks though - are they just bunching up or is something else going on there as it almost looks as if he has a bandana or something tied around his socks?

Looks like he's wearing them with the tops cuffed down. No doubt he spent so much time hanging around the bobby-soxers that their habits started to rub off.

Elastic on the hem of the socks probably broke.
I usually put a rubber band to
