Sadly, from what I have come across looking for info myself, while the film's fans would love one (count me in) it did not make enough at the box office to warrant a sequel.

Apparently so. But stranger things have happened in Hollywood. Recall the movie of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which (I think) did not do well . . . and yet its writer, Joss Whedon, parlayed it into a high-quality TV series only a few years later, when everybody thought the concept was dead.

A sequel should really show the establishment of the U.N.C.L.E. fans recall from the TV series: the steel-walled corridors of the (then) futuristic headquarters hidden behind the tailor shop in NYC, the (then wildly science-fictional) communicator pens *, and the global scope of the agency's crimefighting.

* How to make this fun? Have Solo or Illya say about the communicators, "Fascinating, these electronics. We'd better keep them secret, or everybody will want one." Or Solo remarks, "Someday the man in the street will have one," and Illya replies grimly, "I wish him luck paying the bills."

Or, the technicians at HQ come up with something very much like a desktop computer. Illya comments that they are thinking of patenting and marketing it, to which a puzzled Solo says, "Why would anybody want a computer at home?" The audience will get this as a gag, while at the same time it isn't an anachronism.

I also would like to see a new installment, and I second Benzadmiral’s recommendation that it should draw more heavily from the original T.V. Show’s features and gadgets and stylings. It was great fun.
