I was going around the internet when I stumbled on a 'new' reproduction A2 flight jacket maker.

https://jadubowmfg.com/a-2-jackets/

Does anyone have any experience with them? Based on the pictures on their site they make a lovely Dubow A2. Their price is fair also. I maybe interested in ordering a Seal brown one. They are based in Athens so maybe related to Bill Kelso?

Yes, I have been looking into it also, and this is weird, but seems Platon has his own Shinki sources and found another 'artisan' to make the jackets, strangely also in Athens. I am pretty sure its much the same 27798 you'd get from BK, same patterns, hardware etc... Only the purple knit will be available. They will do long sizes as a request. They may do other Dubow contracts, depending on customer interest and support.
Be aware though... ALL jackets are non-returnable and non-refundable, so be very clear with measurements, sizing etc..

Good luck with that for standard sizes, in the EU. Lol.

Agreed, reading their T&C they act like they are above consumer laws, this isn't how things work i'm afraid...

This is the law: If you bought a good or a service online or outside of a shop (by telephone, mail order, from a door-to-door salesperson), you also have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days, for any reason and with no justification.

Does this apply for custom jobs though?
Eastman doesn’t accept returns on their “Long” sizes either.
They might be entitled to non-refundable policy if the jacket is created specifically for a customer?

It doesn't apply for custom work. It certainly does apply to jackets which were made with standard pattern after you ordered though. The fact that they build a jacket after you order, does not make it custom.

I don't know about how eastman does modifications and about their L sizes, but if these are standardized modifications and hence just standard sizes too, I don't think their return policy would hold in court.

I see no reason to buy a jacket from him that is non-returnable and non-refundable when there are other venues available without such restriction. Just sayin' ...

Also my thought, both J.A Dubow and Eastman might try to use the "custom made" to avoid returns, but they aren't really customs at all. Eastman "Long sizes" have a standard "Long" pattern that is always the same, and J.A Dubow doesn't do any custom work since they say "After your order is placed you will be given the measurements of the jacket you ordered to check if the fit is OK for you, or you need to order different size."
They are "made to order" but not custom.

IMO they say "no return" as a way to try to avoid returns, but like you say it probably doesn't hold in court...
I returned an Eastman "long" size a few years ago and they didn't try very hard to say no.

Ugh.

You know, I’ve often been tempted to try BK and now this company. The more jacket makers the better for us, right?

But no matter where BK, post BK, BKII, seems to go, it always seems to have a great website...and antagonistic customer service. My personal experience with custom jackets is that they don’t fit more often than they do.

If you can’t return a jacket that doesn’t fit, that’s a pretty big gamble.

Personally, I don't give a damn who is making it. If one is getting an accurately patterned, actual contract A-2 repro of good quality HH, it's a STEAL for under $600.00 USD shipped. TOTALLY blows any of the nicely done 'budget' Asian (or anywhere else for that matter) A-2's I've found out-of-the-water for the price, and is less expensive than the not-so completely accurate Cockpit WWII Issue. If I had the $$ available, one would be on it's way for sure. :)

I did contact them through their eBay listing, and was told that if I were to order now, I could expect my jacket in September. Still in time for eBay & PayPal's protection policies to be in effect. Needless to say, even though I have a nice Good Wear RW 27752, and other decent A-2's, I AM trying to find the $$ for one of these to get in on before the prices inevitably go up. ;) Hell, they're around $50.00 cheaper on eBay than their site price as well.. Based on my measurements (44" chest), I was told to order a 44 for a regular / slimmer fit, and the 46 for a more relaxed fit. Sounds about right to me...

Problem with Platon isn't so much the merchandise, it's everything that surrounds it in terms of customer service, attitude etc. I suppose at that price it might be worth a punt, but to me you're throwing cash on a roulette wheel and sticking it on black.
