Aero Board Racer fit question

Hi everyone! I just got a fit jacket from Thurston Bros yesterday. I think the stock size fits me quite well, but I'm not sure about the body length. Do you think maybe I should add 0.5" to the body length? The fit jacket is Vicenza, but I'll order goatskin.

Hi, welcome to TFL.

This is a tough call, this is already a great fit and i am not sure i would change anything.
You could ask for 0.5" extra, but since 0.5" is their acceptable accuracy tolerance you might actually receive a jacket with exactly the same length.

If there is one thing i have learnt over the years it is that 0.5" really isn't worth worrying about.

Two things I've learned from the Board Racers I have:

- Longer may look better until you sit/walk around. The length can cause the jacket to push up into your neck.
- Longer can tend to flare out the bottom of the jacket. If you always unzip when seated, less of an issue. There are times I want the jacket zipped while seated (e.g. riding) and my longer jackets reflect this by turning up the bottom of the jacket.

It all depends on your preference and where the jacket will ultimately reach on your body. I wear my pants at hip-level (slight above) but below my waist. I prefer my jacket reach top-middle of my belt. Slightly above hips.

The Aero Goatskin is outstanding! I have found that jackets made from Goatskin tend to ride up a little in normal use, so I order a Goatskin jacket with an extra 0.5 inch in both the sleeve and body length.

Based on your pics, I would add another inch to the body length, and a half-inch to the sleeves.

Thank you all for the feedbacks!

I'd love to keep the jacket, but I need something lighter in both leather and lining since I need this for SoCal weather. I think I'm gonna go with extra 0.5" in length, since I won't wear this jacket for riding, I have Schott and armor undershirt for that :)

Actually, 1/2 inch added is a good idea. Most of my leather jackets do lose 1/2 inch after wearing.

I think adding 0.5 of an inch would be a nice tweak. You could definitely get away with it as it is but seeing as keeping this one isn’t an option, I’d add the length to the body. I like the sleeves where they are.

Man, that is a great fit. I just went through purchasing a board racer and ended up keeping the fit jacket. Mine is about an inch longer than yours covering just the edge of the front and back pockets. How tall are you? The jacket seems perfectly proportioned to your height. There is no guarantee that you will get 0.5" added to that length. Sleeve lengths and the shoulder all have slight (0.5") allowance, so if I were you, I'd keep it, but, if it's going to bother you, get it right the first time. I love Vicenza and it's really a perfect weight for the CA weather. Mine has light wool tartan, but I feel like the jacket breathes. Good luck.

I would add 1 inch to the body length and 1/2-1 inch to the sleeve length (to accommodate the shortening of the sleeves when the leather creases).

Welcome to TFL. SoCal or bust!

Sleeves length needs to be a little longer as already stated, good fit through the body, maybe a bit of length if you ride, if not I say it is fine. The leather is your choice as with the lining which makes a lot of difference according to climate.

Great fit but I’d personally add some back length and lower the zipper too, sleeves are great IMO.

Forget adding half an inch, it won't make any difference and jackets are made so that they end up being within half an inch of what you ask for, less or more. What Carlos said earlier.

This one is ok if you like short.

if you prefer to add length, an inch at least would do it. Maybe two at back. That's what I'd want - I'd want to cover the tops of the back pockets.

I'd also add that those are some low-rise jeans...
It might sound odd, but try it on without those jeans to see where it fits your body (no need to show us). The rise of your jeans might change over the lifetime of the jacket. The jacket should fit you, not your pants.
