yes and no...

Shell Cordovan is equine leather, it's actually a muscle rather than skin.
Any leather can be died Cordovan colour... CXL Steer Cordovan for example.
Cordovan CXL is the colour of Cordovan, but it is not Shell Cordovan.
Ah, if about the colour only - O'k, but it's a bit kind of simplification of the main meaning then...

Actually, if not mistaken, shell cordovan is a membrane. In any case it makes an amazing (and expensive) pair of boots.
Merry christmas and health to everyone!

Would love to see that. Asro have had their goatvon black as well as russett/steer for a few years now. An oxblood/cordo shade would be very cool. Also wonder what a batursl goat eould look/ age like.

If you search for ‘oxblood’ goatskin jacket a few Mall jackets appear. So a tannery somewhere in India or China is producing the leather.

I've always wondered how 'cordovan' has come to mean a particular leather, given that it's root lies in the French words 'coeur du vin', literally 'heart of wine', which surely refers to a colour

According to Wikipedia it’s (shell cordovan), derived from the word Cordoba, the city where it was originally made by the Visigoths in the seventh Century. Mind you I don’t always believe everything I read.
