Songs That Mention Hats

"Wishing Well" -- Blackfoot

Take off your hat; kick off your shoes.
I know you ain't goin' anywhere.
Run 'round the town, singin' your blues.
I know you ain't goin' anywhere.
You've always been a good friend of mine,
But you're always sayin' farewell.
And the only time that you're satisfied
Is with your feet in the wishing well.

Long live Rickey!

I kind of expected you would go for the original, Jack.
But, if only because of Paul Rodgers, here it is:

I went with Blackfoot because it's on Blackfoot Strikes which happens to be my favorite album of theirs, and overall I like Medlocke's volume of work.

And before Blackfoot covered it, there was Maggie Bell, who interestingly, I saw open for Bad Co. on the Straight Shooter tour. Must've been weird doing this song with Paul Rodgers in the wings watching.

You Old Fool by The Weavers:

Cheating housewife tries to pass her lover's JB Stetson off as chamber pot in the second verse:

"I came home the next night so drunk I could not see And there was a hat on the hat rack where my hat ought to be I said to my wife, my pretty little wife, explain this thing to me What's this hat doing here on the hat rack where my hat ought to be

Oh, you old fool, you blind fool can't you plainly see It's nothing but a chamber pot my mother send to me Ah, I've traveled this wide world over, ten thousand miles or more But a J.B Stetson chamber pot I never did see before"
