Agreed, that deerskin is amazing!
I wonder if it tans much.
@willyto and @dudewuttheheck you guys have that hide no? Does it darken much with use?

Edit: just answered my own question, i really like the LaBrea in that hide.

https://www.denimbro.com/freewheelers-bootleggers_topic189_page459.html

His darkened way more than mine has. Maybe I haven't worn it enough, but mine hasn't really darkened all that much. I'm sure it will eventually, but look at the Japanese examples of worn jackets... theirs haven't darkened as much as ASee's either. Would be interested to know how he got his to darken that much.

Those photos look like an oil (or something) was applied due to how the cuffs look, how the darker color was on the rim of the inside of the cuff.

As for ordering, Avenue does offer international shipping.

I sent them an email on a sunday at 6pm asking for a couple questions and got an answer in 5 minutes, they are very nice and responsive.

Good to know. I have enjoyed their website because they keep good photos up of all the jackets they have carried even if it is not in stock.

Deerskin La Brea is for sure an interesting option. A friend is selling his size 42, he mentioned the color varies a lot in different light circumstances.

Thank you, i would be interrested, but it ships new from Japan for 17500 rmb, for that price difference i might as well get a new one...
Understood. Just out of interest, did you check with Avenue on if they are willing to declare a low value?

Where is your friend located and how much is he selling it for?
@Carlos840 That deerskin LaBrea looks really nice and so far I've only seen new ones but as I already told you yesterday there will be nice aging after regular wear (not only once a month) - I'll post an update of my Sunset as soon as it's more sunny and when I have time. Declaring it as clothing" and declare a value of 5000JPY sounds like a good deal - keeping my fingers crossed. I wished these kinds of tricks would work here with our Cologne customs office - sometimes I'm getting the feeling that they do have experts for Japanese high quality leather jackets who exactly know the value of goods :D Anyway, good luck and can't wait to see fit pics!

Btw. does Avenue deduct Japanese VAT like others do?

They do. No Aero style shady tax business going on here...
Japan price is 319000JPY, international price would be 290000JPY + 5800JPY shipping.
Thats 220 euros saved in Tax...

Not sure the 5000JPY declaration is 100% safe, i have had customs ask for proof of payment before, not sure what to do yet.

Thanks - probably you can split the payment into two PayPal payments, just in case UK customs office wants to see a payment evidence ;)

@Carlos840 I threw the jacket on the balcony and took two pics. Straight from the phone no filters nor anything.

The pockets and shoulders/collar area are the ones that darken the most with use.

You can see how the sun is shining bright:

I got it a bit lighter in colour but not that much. The problem is that I've worn it for almost all the time since I got it in December but the winter sun isn't as strong as in Spring and in Spring I can't wear a leather jacket because it's too warm.

I'll take pics later of the Darius, the colour is different.

Are you still getting a wall rail for yourself?

Yep, it's still in the plans, i "just" have to build it, but with my dad passing away and me having to take care of his house, finishing the works in mine, spring work to be done, i just am getting delayed and things are taking more time than planned.
Fingers crossed i can get it done this summer at some point.

Here is the plan, paint the wall grey to have the best possible contrast and colour rendition, attach 3 horizontal copper pipes on the wall with brass hardware. Each pipe will be 3.5m long spaced a meter appart.
Basically i will be able to have 12 jackets on the wall, 3 rows of 4.

Copper and brass:

Thanks Will, that really looks great!
Most people say deer doesn't get creases in the elbows but yours is showing some really nice ones.
