Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

Scala ”Panama” paired with an O’Fallon Smoke Porter. Should go well with the soon to arrive burnt-end sandwich.

Helped a friend with some plumbing issues in his new house yesterday and he sent me on my way with this bigass bottle of Costco whiskey. It ain't Jack, but it's fine for what I paid for it. It's really light and mild. Picked up some beer and carnitas on the way home to enjoy with it. Hat is a modern Dobbs Dayton model that's been relegated to beater status.

Bought on a Flash Buy but haven’t picked up yet. Don’t know much about the brewery in Lawrence, KS. Wanted to help out the manager at the liquor store, & the bottle art helped to sell me too. Prairie Star Porter.

The rice has been planted over here and the paddy fields are full of water. With that comes bugs. Bugs in multitudes. We burn mosquito coils, but there’s other bugs that don’t seem to be bothered by them. Funny thing is, they’re not interested in our food, just our drinks! - the wine the other night and the Buffalo Trace tonight. We decked our glasses out in elegant blue & green hats to keep them out.
I went for one of my Bailey paper hats.

I have taken two days off to begin to enjoy the start of summer. Choosing the days in advance did not allow me to choose the weather. Dag nab it - 90+'f weather (33+'c) is what I am "enjoying."

This morning after some yard chores I opened a beer. I chose the beer by the picture of snow and that the beer was brewed in Duluth, MN - home of snow and cool weather. Lift Bridge Brewing Berry Blond. It is a light golden malt with a subtle addition of boysenberry and blueberry at 4% ABV. It is a taste of Northern Minnesota.

I spread some mulch and did maintenance to our gas powered tiller. A Deschutes IPA was my reward after heading in for lunch.

This afternoon I headed out for errands and when home I am sitting on the deck enjoying a Surley Supreme (pilsner with a bright grapefruit flavor).
