Today and yesterday: ELMC B-3 ("Concho") to the office. Fits over a suit jacket and is frankly the only kit acceptable in this dark, gloomy, moist coldness called November.

Not my most elegant or subtle jacket, but I´ve come to appreciate a lot. Plus my secretary loves it...

Jacket from Tony arrived a few days ago. Being this is the third jacket with Tony , the measurements are pretty much dialed in and the fit is pretty good.

However the blue shinki horsehide I bought and sent to Tony isn’t as nice as I expected. I received 3 pieces of hides. 2 of them are not grainy at all and 1 is very grainy (more similar to the one Greg from field leathers posted on his ig). The smooth hide has a plastic feel to it which I’m not a fan of. Tony had a hard time matching the panels while making the jacket. It smells kind of funny too. Maybe I got a bad batch I am not sure.

The none grainy parts are used as the body. Since receiving the jacket I try to hit the parts lacking grain with water using a spray bottle and leave the grainy part alone. Hopefully with more wear the panels will even out a bit more.

The indoor light makes the leather looks black but it is indeed blue under more natural light.

So I think the jacket is great.
Fit is top and at least on the photo the leather looks not bad.
Congratulations

Awesome jacket. I really like that concho too, makes the jacket a bit more playful.

I don’t think it’s bad but imo not worth the premium price in my case, which is probably bad luck with the batch variation.

Also there is a problem of me buying a small amount of leather and send it to the maker. If the difference between the hide is large then there is little the maker can do but have to mismatch the panels.

Thanks, Marc! I am still on the fence with B-3/Irving jackets from a style perspective (and this one in particular). But they are just so perfectly fitting for damp/cold weather that I find myself grabbing this one really often.
