That's pretty cool, which brown horsehide is that and how do you find it compares with your other thedi jacket in deerskin when it comes to thickness/drape/feel
It's his italian brown horsehide, from a tannery in Tuscany I believe. Really thick and relatively grainy stuff, lovely color. It's somewhat between mid-brown and reddish brown, with some darker spots here and there.
It's obviously a thicker and heavier leather than the deerskin, it feels more 'substantial'. That was the look I was going for, and Theodoros also advised me to take the horsehide on this jacket (as he did with deerskin on the other). Even though deerskin is a very tough leather, I still think this horsehide is even sturdier and I won't have as much problems babying the jacket in the first months. Though this horsehide is by no means a hard leather, the deerskin is a lot softer still. The latter is also unparalleled regarding the smell, if you find that important.
It drapes fairly well but definitely isn't as pliable as deerskin or even cowhide. It's still very comfortable though, I've already worn it a lot the past two days and it's great when wearing open or closed, the only hard part is getting the collar up and down as I have to reach behind my back for it and it's quite big, but those are details.
I chose these jackets for very different occasions: this one is to become one of my winter daily drivers as it's lined with flannel; protects me from the wind and the cold. The deerskin is a 3 season jacket, which is why it's a thinner leather with a cotton lining. I probably couldn't see myself using deerskin for this coat, though it would look good no doubt.

Your photos are definitely very helpful. In full height and at normal foreshortenings and without any light correction. This is exactly what is needed for the most accurate understanding.
I was interested in Thedi in this particular jacket model of horsehide.
Now I see that whatever Thedi does is Thedi's style. It is possible to recognize Thedi's style and leather from a hundred meters away... And it's not my style.

In no way do I want to offend anyone or spoil anyone's mood. I am not at all a leather connoisseur or a professional or gourmet. But IMHO all types of Thedi leathers look the same. Perhaps because it is the same thickness and it is all hand-painted by him. And in my, of course, amateurish vision, it doesn’t look like genuine leather at all. This is just a remark. I will not argue on this issue.

Let everyone who likes Thedi be happy with their favorite jackets.

Not intended as an argument, but perhaps what you dislike is his washing / waxing treatment

@Kuro didn’t choose that treatment and his jacket looks quite different from most Thedi

like @Mrfrown said, perhaps it is the waxing you don't like. In any case, if you don't like the fit of it, Theodoros is very accommodating and will always seek to please his customers unless their choices would detract too much of the original spirit of the jacket. I only mean to say that the problems you mention are probably easily remedied by just asking Theodoros (or Thurston Bros) about it. The quality of his jackets is however undeniable.
In any case, different strokes for different folks and there's nothing wrong with that!

Dude, you clearly don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. On the one hand you're saying the hides Thedi uses don't look like genuine leather to you (yet Thedi uses the best hides money can buy). On the other hand you're welcoming low/mediocre quality leather jackets makers into the forum. Are you trolling?

Second Thedi just arrived, it's a mackinaw style in brown horsehide and flannel lining. Leather and craftsmanship are out of this world, and the coat is still surprisingly versatile. I absolutely love it and will wear the heck out of it for the remaining winter and early spring. Thanks! No regrets thus far, it's exactly what I wanted. Theodoros is about the only one I trusted to pull this design off well, and he delivered.

Absolutely right regarding the leather; it's some of the best I've ever seen. Style could be discussed, but quality definitely not, that's just objectively excellent.

I now have after the exchange Thedi Cafe Racer. When I saw the leather for me it was something new and was delighted. The tailoring of the jacket is so well thought out. But I wanted this jacket to fit me better. That's why I've already chosen the path

All that someone does not like is trolling? This is a very comfortable position. I have a lot of hypotheses about you but I don't tend to be demagoguery here. I hope that the moderators will respond to inappropriate phenomena here.

You're trolling because you (negatively) comment on people's posts even though you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. People on TFL invest time and effort by taking pics of their beautiful leather jackets and sharing them here with us. As a thank you you're telling them that their jackets look like they're made of non-genuine leather. That's downright rude and totally inappropriate.

But IMHO all types of Thedi leathers look the same. Perhaps because it is the same thickness and it is all hand-painted by him
This statement perfectly exemplifies that you don't know what you're talking about. It would have cost you 5 minutes or less to figure out that Thedi offers different leather thicknesses and that not all hides are hand dyed (most of them are not).

I hope that the moderators will respond to inappropriate phenomena here.

Explain to me, which inappropriate phenomena (other than you dissing other lounger's jackets).

I don't know @Marc mndt , we were wrong to believe the leathers are different, they clearly are all the same

I think so too, his style is very distinctive. Love it or hate it - and anything in between - it certainly is easy to recognise.

And it's not my style.

Sure, Thedi is not for everyone.

But IMHO all types of Thedi leathers look the same

That's where I start to wonder, how do they look the same? Thedi have one of the widest range of leathers I have seen in a maker, and they keep coming up with new leathers all the time. If they all look the same, what can we say about other makers?

And in my, of course, amateurish vision, it doesn’t look like genuine leather at all

What looks like genuine leather to you?

I agree with RD. Thedi has the widest range of leathers. Period. It helps that he is so close to Italy though. He can literally drive there and select from different leather shops and go home and have his super late (to North American standard) dinners all in the same day. All other makers would have to order some type of minimum from agents/tannery and have the lot shipped and take whatever they get without putting up more shipping cost. Thedi just drive down and he can pick and chose the leather. The only downside of Thedi for me is I never know what's the prices. He doesn't advertise them, I can only do recon work from Thurston page. This is also the downside for Johnson and SB. In this aspect, the makers who clearly marks their prices wins, especially for (first time online) shoppers. All the leather looks solid. The one Markos I have looks just like Badalassi but thicker than the Lux. I would guess Tempesti. Very solid hides.

Man, this is beautiful! It´s a difficult piece to pull off ,but you (and Theodoros) nailed it! Much has been said about Thedi´s obsession with "skintight" cuts, but if you can wear it (and both yourself and Thedi can!), it addds an extra dose of "Rock´n´Roll" to every outfit.
