It used to be a drug store, but became a restaurant called Parthineos somehow they were able to change the sign from drugs to food. I don't know the ins and outs of neon, but very astute on your part.

If you have watched any televised sporting events originating in Kansas City you may have seen this. The guys in the Goodyear blimp like to shoot this for their "B" roll.

The Peckerwood Club was out in the rural county not far from where I grew up. The area was unincorporated & as a result there was little law enforcement. The County Sheriff didn't go out there unless he absolutely had to & when there was real trouble he usually couldn't be found. It dated back to the early 1930's & was the kind of place you went to with someone you didn't want to be seen with. It was a club with a beer bar & small dance floor, & a few cabins out back you could rent by the hr.
In ruins today the original neon sign hangs unrestored in a bar back in town.
