Just finished a 3000 mile week long road trip with my son in my 65 Mustang, it was quite warm in CA and AZ so the only hat of interest I brought along was my Ultrafino Havana. The high points included Yosemite, drag races in Tucson, and the Hoover Dam. Great father-son time.

That’s putting a lot of confidence in your restoration. Congratulations! I had the body off the frame of my 1963 Corvette split window for 2 yrs in my garage. Ground up!

Thanks, it's actually the second time my 65 has made this trip. I actually love road tripping the old car, even though it is a little nerve-racking at times. Everywhere you stop someone asks a question or has a complement or a story to tell, it makes the road trips fun.

I love those Corvettes, very cool!

I had a 1967 coupe with the 427 Tri-power big block & sidepipes I restored. It was Goodwood Green. I was big into NCRS. The yr the Chevrolet Corvette plant was moved to Bowling Green, KY, NCRS had their national convention there. I was going to trailer there but my wife wanted to go to tour the plant, & for us to drive the car. We did. It was hot & with no AC, the gasoline fumes from 3 carbs seeping thru the firewall, the side pipes roaring & the Windows down. When we arrived at the hotel after an 8-10 hr drive she looked at me & said, “Never again!”

The car won Top Flight.

Wonderful, just wonderful. You tell of your travels so succinctly Stefan, I could almost have been there.
The photos capture your adventure perfectly. The above image can be best captioned by a very well known English playwright: "Two Gentlemen of Verona." by William Shakespeare.

Today marks the 158th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of New Albany in MO, resulting in the death of William “Bill” Anderson. The actual site is on private property today but a marker was erected on public land nearby.

Anderson’s corpse was taken by Union Troops into nearby Richmond, MO where it was posed & photographed, then promptly decapitated. His head was publicly displayed on a pole. Temporarily buried his remains would later be moved fearing grave robbers. Pregnant & living in TX, Anderson’s wife feared for her own life & never returned to MO or claimed his remains. What was to become his permanent grave would remain unmarked until 1902 when Cole Younger was released from supervised parole in MN & allowed to return to MO. Among the first things he did was have Anderson’s grave located & a marker placed.

Anderson’s sister Josephine, age 15 was among the female relatives of the Partisan Rangers killed while being held by Union Troops in a basement jail in Aug 1863, when the house collapsed on them. His younger sister Jenny suffered two broken legs & a back injury while shackled to a bed when the house collapsed.

Anderson’s brother James served in & survived the war but was killed in a fight soon after.
