The laurel is an interesting point. But, the Rote Adlerorden (Prussian) also shows the laurel in its claws: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roter_Adlerorden#/media/Datei:RoterAdlerOrden.jpg

On the other hand, the wings of the US-Eagle always point to the side or upwards here, if downwards only at the height of the head. So the mass of the wings is lifted. The Prussian and the Bora-Eagle point down, far below the head, the wing masses are at the bottom.
There are probably similar examples. I would have to take a look through my website which is easier to navigate than here. :)

Here are two Federal Period eagles from my collection. With American Eagles there is not a real standard over the past 200 plus years, with older designs often brought out again for decorating.

I was not actually saying the hat logo WAS an American Eagle, (which is unlikely) but that it greatly resembled the American Eagles often seen on European Export goods for America........Laurel and all (but no Hardy). ;)

It is not like the usual Imperial Eagles we generally see......

Here is the WW2 Discharge button which has a interesting history among servicemen....they called it the "Ruptured Duck"...

In any case, it's astounding how similar the designs were. For example I didn't know the Prussian eagle with a laurel. But every day is a school day. Btw it was not until yesterday that I understood, what the names Laurel and Hardy depict : ) (thought these where just normal names).

Sometimes the Russian imperial eagle looks the same. And here I found the French eagle from 1893 in the same Design (with a lightning in its crawls as the Prussian is also often seen) and a quite similar US-eagle: https://media.gettyimages.com/id/12...=YWmAZY15cr0WK7cRtwquqIOIZSYh6Z-CwxR31Im0ido=

Any of these should be some sort of renewed eagle of the Roman legion, that has the same design, so we shouldn't be surprised as much.

The classical design of the German eagle with the feathers spread (what you may refer to as the usual Imperial eagle) seems to be a developement around 1400, where the Reichsbanner differentiates against the Roman eagle and the eagle lectern of the Middle ages with its feathers hold together. And this is the exact German eagle until 1918 (Prussia afterwards gets a more Roman eagle back as I showed above):

I hope quoting a very old post works:

I have a top hat, that says "Stadion" as well. And as far as I can see the old pictures from that Fedora, "Stadion" is also printed on the sweat band. So maybe it really is some kind of brand. Judging the shape of this top hat, it's also 1930s.

56 cm German 1930's mid-grey hat. Color is named "Sunda" (an Indonesian island).
Welted edge with unusual stitch-binding.
Made by "Stadion". Any more information available on this maker?

The paper label has a model number 2241. Might be 1941, but I rather think that the hat is older... ca. 1930-35.

Great condition and very sturdy but smooth felt.

Armin, Great find! It also has a fantastic look (really interesting / unique too). It's says Stadion is the Quality so doesn't appear to be a company mark. I will try to search through some of my information and see if there is any reference to Stadion or Sunda.

"Stadion" is a mark. Is there a paper label? Is it from a German source?

Or let's say, I guess it's post war: lower crown and a small, black sweatband:

Tremel was located in Herford, Germany. I am not sure when they went out of business but I will do some more research. There are some great photos from this book (see below).

"Herford zwischen 1900 und 1960" By Eris Valentowicz.

"After the death of the founder August Tremel in 1924, his sons Adolf and August took over the hat factory and built a new building in 1927 at the same location. Above the hat shop, here around 1930, was the hat maker's workshop."

"For the production of a folding cylinder "Chapeau claque", a basic form, the galette, was first made. This photo from the 1950s shows a Tremel hatter holding two Galettes in his hands. The plush was mounted on the godet during the next step."
