I never said I found the HB boring if you read the whole context of the plainsman / half-belt discussion it was about Greg getting into trouble by "plagiarizing" one of Aero's design directly. I just wanted a longer and slim version. Its also about Marc mndt saying why a plainsman isn't it just a longer HB etc etc.

The jacket is for travel to cooler climates, not for use where I am.

Thanks that is an amazing looking jacket and it's a Bill Kelso! I wonder how long the waiting time is but at £950 its a better deal than a Field... Thanks a bunch mate this really helps and it ticks pretty much all the boxes in my check list!!!!

The issue is about style and yes I can't pull off certain styles lol. Even at 50 I still look like a kid I'm slim to skinny still, 180cm and just 73kg.

I simply don't have the frame to pull of more badass designs like what Thedi have.

Bill Kelso here I come!
Damn, that's a good 50. With that frame, you can pull off any jacket you want.

Thanks Will Zach,

I beg to differ though. I can pull of the suit / tie or the casual military look quite well but when it comes to certain jackets, I either come off as a dad in kids clothing or a kid in dad's clothing or worst the coat swallows me whole and I look like a stickman wrapped in sheep wool... sigh.

Pea coats, double breasted jackets or anything with huge lapels look particularly odd on me lol.

I know that, only that I am taller.
My recipe for not sinking visually into clothes is to wear only slim fit. And with jackets it helps if they are not too long and rather a V/Y shape instead of being straight or bell-shaped.
As a slimmer you definitely have a wide range of possible styles to choose from.

Exactly MrProper,

So you know the pain, any boxy cut clothes even tees look odd on us. Sure there are a lot of better fitting designs like HB, cafe racers etc but cross zip moto jackets or those with bigger lapels are much harder to pull off.

I don't necessarily agree with that. I like my xzip.
There are also enough other examples. C86D7775-A92C-4E8D-8EB1-E3BA6AA68FF3.jpeg

Here you can see what a difference a well-fitting jacket can make. Lol
In fact, your t-shirt pictures are not so dissimilar to mine. Only that I am 196 cm tall but weigh only 90 kg.

MrProper,

If this was boxing I'll be in the Light-middleweight and you'll be in the super heavy weight class there no way we're similar in any way lol!

I get your point about a fitting jacket cos all my suits are tailored and if they weren't they'll all fit badly.

However, I'll stand by what I said about me not rocking some jackets. I'm thereabouts of an Ewan McGregor or Will Estes not the Rock.

It's just that the scale is different. The visual appearance is the same. But no matter.
Have a look at the pictures of Lewis Leather's jackets. There's also a lot of old pictures of slim people rocking the jackets.
Maybe you'll get the chance to try on a slim fit x-zip. I strongly expect that you will like it then.
On the other hand... it's not like there aren't plenty of other models, as you aptly mentioned.

MrProper.

I suppose that's true if my scale is 1/12 you'll be 1/10 lol!
The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards a jacket that is a good starter jacket that I could use for a lot of stuff, can get banged up and I won't feel too bad about and gives me time to really decide on what I'll want in another jacket.

I guess I'll have to try an x-zip on my travels as the only x-zip are pure motor jackets.

I been reading and it seems for a starter jacket you can't go wrong with a Vanson Oxford or Royale Enfield. They are not in the length I want but if Carrie can mod them somewhat in a lighter brown, the Oxford or Royale Enfield might be a good fit.

The reason why I'm not jumping on the Field wagon is, since he's been referring all transactions through Sam it's starting to sound like it's all business, no friends discount, no Badalassi leather (Greg was really keen on those leathers before) etc. When I was told we don't do Badalassi Olmo there was not even a follow up like but we have this other leather that quite similar.
The Greg I used to message and email seems to no longer be there.

I have no doubt about Greg skills but it's not just the finished product it's the journey, its been a 3 yr long journey and it's a big fat zero so far.
I totally understand that communication slows down when you haven't pulled the trigger after three years. They have a business to run.

Personally I'm happy to communicate the details of my order with Sam. She's very quick to respond while Greg focuses on what he does best: making jackets.

When I read the back and forth from the OP like this, I unfortunately have the fear that it won't work in another three years... it is therefore a complete waste of time answering the OP's questions (what I haven't done and won't do), just my 2cents.

Marc mndt,

I'm not sure if you read what I said. I waited and waited to make a button jacket and Greg did not have one so instead of ordering from someone else I though I'll see when Greg was ready and I'll order. Only I never heard from him. I had to reach out and now it's seems that how he wants to run things.

Ok I'm trying to understand...

Greg had his buttonhole machine ready and working May 2021. So you reached out to him after May '21 and instead of Greg it was Sam who answered you. Which upset you together with the fact that you didn't get any 'friends discount'?

Hi Marc,

You're a champ and I applaud your diplomacy, you're definitely one of the good guys.

Rather than rehash all the issues I rather just say the ball is in their court and I'll focus back on the objective which is to get for myself a decent travel jacket.
Some investments don't pan out so it just better to find other opportunities.

Marc, you're a jacket connoisseur and you're the perfect go to guy for designs as you seem to have bought every thing out there from what I saw in your instagram page lol!

Me, with my lousy climate, I'll likely only ever have 2 jackets (fingers crossed, I can keep to that number), one nice cafe racer type and a mid length leather jacket for travels. When it gets too cold for that, I'll break out the tweeds and wool overcoats, forget leather. The only other leather jacket would be for my GF and I have a good idea it'll be an Italian.

I've emailed Carrie and told her what I want and don't and to be frank with me, just tell me what's possible and what's not and lets go from there :)

I've also emailed Theodoros as one of your Cossack made by him is a killer piece so if he can make so mods to it I'll be in heaven.

All the best Marc!

One of our fellow loungers who lives on a tropical island got a goatskin Thedi, made from thinner hides. Perfect for your climate. Here's his story.

Hey Marc,

Many thanks and you my friend, are "some kind of wonderful"... I mean it in a good way lol!

Allow me to explain the hate I have of weather I have to endure here. I'm pretty sure some love the tropics but that's for another day.

Oh how I detest thee, weather like sauna. Being broiled, steamed or lightly sautee sauteed isn't how I want to spend my days. I can sweat in my shoes, I peel my tees off my back, I'm as wet in the shower as I am out.
No jacket should have to endure being soaked in sweat, it is not made to be a sponge.

You get it buddy huh huh?

I would happily go to work in tees and tennis shorts if I could. I certainly won't pay a thousand or 2 and suffer to look cool.

"Perfect for your climate" means shorts, tees and sandals if even that.

@Mawashi ,

Just saw this thread. You can pull off almost any style with your frame, just need to make it a decent fit - not perfect as some people look for, just decent - that's it. What really ruins patterns is not a slim frame such as yours - just look at all the Japanese brands and their fit pics.
