Johnson Leathers custom,
Only a 20 footer but I call it sanctuary....Wait! You have a shipping container full of jacket? Well done sir![]()
Thank you!Glad to see it arrived safely. Looks great on you. Wear and enjoy in good health!
I still have no idea how you say, of all your jackets, you'd be fine with letting this go.
If there ever was a keeper, this is it
It’s a trucker jacket with zipper, and racer band collar. The leather dress collar snaps onto the racer collar, so does the mouton collar. I was going for one jacket three looks. In hindsight the regular dress collar with the zipper would have been enough.Hold on T....a Snap on Shirt collar!!??
Give us the reveal (like it could get any better) if you would please
I think truckers with a zip are kind of cool. Even cooler with a two-way zip
Super nice Type III - kinda reminds me of my Vanson Maverick in Brandy Roma leather although yours if far more luxurious looking with the premium hides and brass hardware. I'm jealous but will have to push on with life.
It's all good, nothing to be sorry about - only meant it as a jest. Something for everyone.Sorry, I miscommunicated. My point on the other thread was to say that the A-2 as a model is more important to me that any other model. If I had a choice of only one jacket, it would be an A-2 even more than this Trojan.
I didn't mean that I would be fine letting this go - I would definitely not be!
If it were a choice between my LW A-2 hh or the LW Trojan, I would have to go with the A-2, not necessarily because I like it better but because I value the A-2 model more.
Here is my LW A-2 in HH. The portrait is my mother and sister from 1980.

I’m going to wait till summer because it’s currently jacket weather but once I replace this bulky lining it’s gonna fit perfect, I can already tell, and it’s so comfortable, I love it!
Would you suggest I replace it entirely or not risk unsewing the jacket and leave a 2” edge or so along with the inner pocket opening and original tag, and around the cuffs which I already have, and sew a new thinner lining to that.
This one is a keeper but I haven’t replaced any lining yet, it fits me nice and slim in the body but the lining pulls on my clothes and feels restrictive and bulky, the sleeves were very tight and it felt like the lining was bunching up inside.Glad you like it!
I’d suggest waiting until you do anything as that’ll ruin any chance of selling it should you need to.
Deerskin is stretchy. You may gain the same amount of room as you would by replacing to a thinner lining by just wearing it. If it doesn’t stretch, then you can revisit.
Edit - sorry I just re read. You said you already replaced the sleeve lining. At this point it doesn’t matter what you do.
That looks amazing!
This one is a keeper but I haven’t replaced any lining yet, it fits me nice and slim in the body but the lining pulls on my clothes and feels restrictive and bulky, the sleeves were very tight and it felt like the lining was bunching up inside.
At first I thought about it stretching since I have another deerskin jacket that molded and stretched to fit me perfectly, but that one is unlined and this thick lining will never stretch even if the jacket does, besides it’s also too thick for socal weather.
Then the more I was handling it when cleaning it I realized it had already stretched beyond its lining, so I just took out the armhole stitching and cut the sleeve lining around cuff length before the stitching.
Here you can kind of see how the sleeve lining was shorter and a lot wider than the leather sleeve thus pulling on the armpit and shoulder when stretched and adding a lot of extra bulk inside, you can also see how the body lining looks stretched and is restricting the jacket body from fully stretching out sideways.

That’s a good point, I’ll just keep wearing it as is for now and reconsider what to replace down the road.Meant to say removed, not replaced.
That choice of lining in the sleeve was a bad choice so I completely understand why you removed it. The fabric catches and pulls and because the sleeve opening is so slim, it bunches up there and it’s really annoying. That also happened to me.
But besides that, I didn’t experience any of the other things you described, and this jacket was tight on me. It stretched a whole lot as I as moving around, it just always felt like it sprung back into place. It’s very spongy and has a lot of give so it’ll take extra hard wear for the stretching to stick. With consistent hard wear, I’m sure that thick moleskin would stretch quite a bit too.
At the end of the day, you’re keeping it, so do whatever you think you need to do to make it better.
Btw, very interesting to see the inside of the jacket.
