That is a very nice fitting jacket. I was wondering, do you have a link to a selling site? Or did you have to import via proxy sellers?
Finally, the leather does look nice.

Thanks for the compliments. Unfortunately I can't answer your questions because I bought this second hand from another Lounger. No idea where he got it. He did say he paid about $300 for it - I got it for half that, which was a really good deal imo.

There is a lot of discussion on the Chinese Jackets thread about where to buy China-made leather. After skimming that thread, I feel like it's very much hit or miss even within each maker and would recommend you buy second hand if possible.

I agree with the anonymous looking grain in the comp weight - I have the same jacket - bought in 2019 and it is just starting to develop character/grain. OTOH, the Maverick's (that we both (and others) have) in Brandy Roma is super grainy and is far more pliable than the comp. Still, it's a Vanson Maverick and will always have that special appeal and over an extended period should transition into a favorite. I hope Vanson has a 10% sale soon as I would like to get another Maverick in the Granite Roma (Dark Gray) to add to my Type III collection. It's always just one more!

The leather itself is very disappointing. It’s sanded and corrected and if you look closely there are visible pores. I’ve sprayed it with water, and it’s starting to show a bit of graining. Still nowhere near the old CW which was amazing.

If they had the Roma leather in a black colour I’d go for that. I love my Brandy Roma Maverick.

It’s still a very nice jacket but the leather is very underwhelming.

Thanks for your opinion of the Maverick Comp weight - I have a C2 I bought in 2016 and that leather is closer to the old comp weight and has more character/grain than my 2019 Maverick. As mentioned by other posters, your Maverick does fit well and hopefully over time it will season up nicely. It's interesting that most on the Lounge are so particular about character & grain when most others see a leather jacket and say 'wow' - real leather!

I too would get a Maverick in Black if offered in the Roma Leather but they only have the Brandy, Granite and Rust. I do have a couple of older Vansons from the 90's and they have that great grain explosion going on that their current offerings can't match.

I received my first Aero jacket yesterday.

I've been searching for the right one for well over a year and even tried on new halfbelts in Tokyo in February. It seemed like the really attractive ones were always too pricey for me... until this one came open on eBay for an affordable BIN.

I scooped it up almost immediately and could not be happier with the purchase.

I must admit I was not convinced about CXL horsehide but this jacket has made a believer out of me.

Nice! They stock Aero jackets in the Flat Head store in Osaka. What size is that? I usually wear a 38 (like you, I believe), but 36 was a good fit for me in the Aero Halfbelt.

Thanks Will. I almost let it go by just because of price but I woke up in the middle of the night in a sweat thinking someone else got it. When that happens it's time to buy...

Yes this is a 38 but the shoulders seem a little small compared to the stock 38s I tried in Tokyo. It has an inside pocket and an upgraded liner so it wouldn't surprise me if it's a custom tailor as well.

Have you gone to Osaka to try them on?

Got a birthday coming up?

Now that I've got a used Aero, I am definitely in the market for a new one. But it might be a long wait since I also want a Buco and bespoke Lost Worlds. :O
Just gone. Got my first pair of cowboy boots. The jacket, if purchased new, will be some way off, and will require me to save some of my pocket money.

Correction to my last post. Not the Flat Head, but the D’Artisan shop was where they had Aero jackets. For anyone visiting Osaka, I don’t know if she speaks English, but the boss in that shop was fantastic. Very bubbly, friendly, and knowledgeable . When she saw I knew Aero jackets, she went out the back to get their special horsehide one for me to try on (on the condition that I didn’t bend my arms!).

I knew there was some association in my brain between you and a birthday. I remember the recent cowboy boots post. Happy birthday Gary!

The stock Aero halfbelts on sale in Ueno were 218,00 yen. That's a lot of pocket money! You can probably find a good quality used one for significantly cheaper online. Not sure if you do much used clothing. I don't even remember seeing you with a used hat (except ones you got from Stefan)?
