Custom Vanson Oxford by Thurston

I’m having a custom Vanson Oxford in Abyss blue being made. Stock model has nickel zippers with white stitching. I wanted to add a shearling collar in cream, change the zippers to brass, and have gold stitching instead of white. I found out the gold is not a stitching option they offer. Only black, blue and white. I’m torn between blue and white. In your opinion, in this jacket what stitching will look better with brass zippers and cream shearling collar? White or blue stitching? Thanks!

Brass on blue leather with a creme color mouton collar sounds very odd to me, but I'm looking forward to seeing it!
I was thinking the same, the gold stitching would’ve tied it all together but now I’m not so sure anymore

Black or navy stitching. I’m usually not a fan of stitching and any light-color bad stitching would immediately be obvious on a dark background. I’d like to let the leather shine and speak for itself, not let the stitching be the center of attention.

Wait until you start getting broken stitching from wear. Now any light-color bad stitching would be so obvious.

I was thinking blue also, but do you think it’s worth it to go with brass zippers, or should I stick with nickel

+1 to nickel and blue or black stitching. I love white and blue (my team's colors!) but I think the contrast of white stitching wouldn't look good on a leather jacket. This said, if you like it, go for it. However, I do like the contract in a mouton collar and I think a cream one would look great.

Blue leather, brass zips and a cream mouton sounds awesome; the same color-way as a shearling lined denim jacket - gold stitching is the obvious choice.

Contrast stitching does highlight breaks and wobbles, but it’s worth it. That said, white would not be my choice, it’s too cold to match with blue, brass and a cream mouton.

If you go nickel, white contrast stitching is the icing on the cake, IMO (going against the grain).
If you decide on brass, I’d do something muted so as not to add a “third colour”.

I’d be interested to see how this turns out. Abyss Blue is one tempting colour, but it’s rare (impossible?) to see one with a bit of patina.

Right now this is what I’m considering for my
Build out
1.) Abyss Bainbridge blue
2.) blue stitching
3.) brass main zipper and brass by the l/r wrist
4.) olive lining
5.) Cream shearling collar
6.) no zippers on hand pockets
7.) no zippers on chest

if I got with white stitching, I will switch to nickel zippers, but at that moment I think it’s too similar to the stock build and I should save some $ and go with a pre made jacket.

Hey, I’m already in the process of getting a vanson abyss blue oxford made, and I chose the olive interior pictured below. Yesterday they just released some new swatches. Should I stick with my original choice olive or switch to one of the newer liners?
