Help finding this Levi’s Leather Jacket that Michael Hutchence wore in several videos, interviews, etc.

I’ve been looking for this particular jacket for over 15 years. Nobody can tell me any details about it. There’s a newer Levi’s version floating around on eBay but it’s very different to the one MH is wearing in the photos. Any hint, info etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Fonzie but that’s not the jacket. Take a look at the placement of the stripes, starts with a red color stripe, followed by the dark one. Thanks anyway.

Is there any chance the jacket had a Levis patch added to it? It seems unlikely the jacket was American-made with the zipper on that side of the coat.

He ripped the logo off at some point which makes me think it was added to a non-Levis jacket.

I agree with @Biff42 , I don't believe it's Levi's.

Schott 671 Easy Rider with sleeve gussets removed, I'd say.

Early one, as well. I notice that on newer jackets, the stripes partially end up under the collar. That wasn't the case before. I'm very certain that this is the jacket you're looking for.

Hi, I loved this jacket and tried to find one myself back in 1994 and got through to some reps at Levi's and it turned out that the jacket Hutchence wore was one of only about 3 or 4 samples and was given to him. They didn't go into production however they did make a similar one for mass production released in around 2010 which is quite different to the one MH sported. I tried to find memorabilia sites that may have had this actual jacket for sale, to no avail.

Nah! I dont think so mate, the stripes and zippers are very peculiar. Those are not VANSON or SCHOTT fixtures, lots of differences between the 2 jackets, thanks anyways mate, close but not the one. Cheers Eddie

I notice this is an old thread. But I just stumbled across this post as I was searching for this specific jacket as well...The reason being I happen to own one. I used to work at a Levi's store in Stockholm Sweden. And this exact jacket was left in our warehouse and I bought it. The story as I understand is that Levis made this jacket for a tour or as sponsoring for Inxs and or Michael Hutchence and I just liked it. I just saw a clip from a Swedish show on economics where the host told a story from the 90s of another celeb-swede who got hold of it at the time but sold it at very high price years later. I didn't know there were more of them. So interesting to find this thread.

The jacket is in great condition and very much "the real deal" I used to wear it in a Swedish "mockumentary" tv show as I was the slacker guy with no intentions in life and so on...
There's only one thing broken. On a really cold winters day -20 celsius (-4 °F) The zippers "handle" on the left arm broke but the zipper still works.

Anyway. That's all I know.
