Hi guys,
I want to put my beautiful Aero Leather Plainsman up for sale as it has been sitting in my closet for years now and I just do not get to wear it.

It is a buttoned version of the Plainsman that Aero manufactured according to my suggestion to try a buttoned version. It came out very nice and I think the buttons fit this old style jacket much better than a zipper (also because on the back the Plainsman already has buttons in the standard version).

It is of dark brown horsehide and has a brown herringbone tweed lining. The arms are lined with olive sateen.

The jacket is in very good condition. I have worn it maybe around 10 times, so the arms have already wrinkles, but I was very careful when wearing it and did not wear it for a pronlonged time. So the inside is abolutely flawless, also under the armpits.

The jacket has been made by Julie Leitch one of the best machinists from Aero.

It is a beautful piece which deserves an owner who will wear it regularly.

Asking 1.100 $

Measurements:
Back length: 72,5 cm
Shoulder width: 46 cm
Chest width: 57 cm
Front length: 67 cm
Arm length: 67 cm (measured along the curve of the arm)

The jacket is currently in Germany but I can bring it to the US beginning of October or in December.

It's very surprising, I have 2 plainsman which have absolutely no resemblance to yours (the pockets, the zipped chest pocket, the back, the side adjustments etc...)
Agreed.
I don’t know the age of this particular jacket, however even if a custom order there’s so much that’s different to the current Aero Leather Plainsman it looks like a completely different style.
Either way, and all things considered, I think I actually prefer this buttoned version.

Yes, I agree it's a very original jacket. But, aside from the buttons, we agree that it looks absolutely nothing like a plainsman jacket.

You are absolutely correct and thank you for reminding me of this. The basic jacket design is a Plainsman, but I added these customizations to it:
The buttoned flapped pockets
The width adjustment in the back with buttons
edit: and square chest pocket

I did that to match the style to the buttoned front. I think the jacket looks very nice with these "citations" of the buttons at these areas.

Fit and cut however will be exactly like the standard Plainsman.

As said previously you did a great job. I think your buttoned version is an improvement over the standard Plainsman and it’s almost a cross between one of those and a Teamster.

I particularly like the buttoned flap pockets and also the squarer no-zip chest pocket.

Fortunately for my bank balance your jacket is too small for me and also I already have an Aero Teamster.

However, were this my jacket not only would I be hanging on to it I’d also be giving it plenty of wear. After all, it’s a custom order made to your own specifications and where are you going to find another ?

you are right, and I admit I have some hestitation when I think about really giving it away. But as said, I just dont get to wear it, and I think it is just too nice to be hanging in the closet all the time. It deserves an owner who puts it to work;-)

Guys, bumping this up as the next US trip is coming up. This time, Seattle area. So if you are interested, I can cover the biggest part of the transportation distance.
