The Flat Head 1950's Single Rider - Rare Brown Tea Core Shinki - Size 42

Here's a 1950's Single Rider from The Flat Head in great condition, in the rarer brown Shinki tea-core horsehide.

This is a GORGEOUS jacket, and it hurts to sell it, but at the end of the day, I just don't have the coloring for it. The leather is a lovely shade of rich burnt caramelly-chocolate brown, and I need cooler tones.

Not sure about this specific jacket but I've tried on a friend's The Flat Head Delraiser double rider in 42 and the shoulders of 19” were pretty wide. I'm a little smaller than you at 5’7 160-165 lbs. wide back athletic build. Hope that helps. Beautiful jacket.

Bender is on my left shoulder and my wallet on my right shoulder. Gotta find stores that can let me try flathead type jackets and other brands on this site. Bender always brings the heat and I have to get out that first down chain from the NFL to see if it’s budget friendly. Could’ve got a pair of clinch boots too. Hehe

The Flat Head fits are interesting... They have a heritage brand ethos- their materials, the inspiration for their patterns, the whole vibe, really... but their cuts are very modern, like something you'd see from a design house.

I'd say in terms of fit, Dior Homme is a pretty close comparison... so you have the longer lengths coupled with a taper to accentuate athletic body types.

The shoulders are quite wide, but they are designed as part of the arm, which is why the arm length wears around an inch longer in practice.

The reality of The Flat Head is that while they are pretty universally loved in terms of build quality and leather, they are a love 'em or hate 'em proposition when it comes to fit. Firstly, you need to have an athletic build, and assuming that, you then need to like how they wear.

Personally, The Flat Head is my go-to... I may rock a few pieces of heritage wear, I certainly like my G-1s, but I'm not the guy matching jackets with the period-correct pants and suspenders... I'm no purist, lol. The Flat Head makes a jacket with some of the best construction and leather found in the heritage market, but a modern cut that goes with my jeans and sneakers.

Also a word about their horsehide... Ridiculous. They get proprietary stuff from Shinki, one of the only makers that Shinki will do that for, due to the length of their relationship. It's this incredibly supple stuff- like almost oil-hide supple, but dry. Amazing stuff.

Anyway, there's a novella that doesn't really answer your question, lol. So... 26" in a modern cut on somebody 5' 8" is certainly doable, but it comes down to whether you want that modern cut, or something with a more traditional vintage pattern. Your weight and athletic build should work beautifully for the jacket.

Novela for the flat head info appreciated. I am similar in my modern non purist approach to style.

I have a pair of boots that appear similar in color, and have been hunting a jacket for it. If I was a very wealthy man this would’ve been mailed to me already.

One thing I learned a hard way is patience is a good thing even though it’s a double edge sword when it comes to opportunity. Which makes me feel both impulsive and a procrastinator. So maybe I really didn’t learn anything.

the flat head has a unique fit and a unique leather. For me the are the best. The shoulder are wide, but my shoulders are broad too. The taper is also a little more than most. But for a more athletic body they are really great. If this were a 44 I would be the new owner.

Congrats, to bender and the lucky buyer! I couldn’t travel to the city to try on the flat head jacket at self edge for comparison, it’s a pretty penny and helps to be sure. Still I kick myself just a little bit.

Bummed to have missed out on this one but have to second the praises of the TFH on this thread. I have the 50's trucker and the leather is just insane, and the fit is definitely more "modern fashion house" then heritage but that is part of why it works.
