Would you ONLY wear boots?

Boots 90% of the time for me in fall, winter, and spring. I wear running shoes to jog and exercise in. Sneakers if going to an amusement park or somewhere with a lot of walking. Flip flops in the summer for the beach and pool. Sneakers if I am wearing shorts on a 100 degree day in the summer.

I do actually want to get a pair of leather flip flops or slide-on sandals for around the house. Preferably something with a decently thick sole and some arch support that fits wide feet. Just something to slip on while I’m wheeling the bin out or going to check the mail

Honestly? Yes. I have three pairs of red wings. Iron Rangers. Loggers. And some Beckmans. Only other shoe I enjoy wearing are loafers.

Though I have running shoes and a pair of vans. I feel covered with what I have but always reach for boots.

Not in South Australia.
Birkies with cream coloured Japanese linen socks most of the time
Bedrock suede mountain clogs

Got to rock the RM Williams Kangaroo leather Chelsea boots when appropriate though
(it would be un-Australian not to)

At this time of year I most often reach for boots casually, though that includes pairs that can be worn with a suit at a push. With a collar and tie, shoes are more commonly what I'd reach for. In warmer weather, I prefer shoes when it's still possible. When we get into hellheat season (here in London that's largely May though September, the worst of it being July and August), I sometimes have to retreat into Vans Authentics when it gets too hot for proper shoes. I didn't own sneakers for years, and I'm not a fan either. These are a compromise in that they have the look of something much older (the Authentic model was their first guttie, in the 60s, but based on a style that had been common for at least a couple of decades at that point). They're a post-lockdown thing for me, prior to that I hadn't owned a pair of sneakers in about twenty years. Nowhere near as comfortable as a good brogue, but when the heat gets unbearable, they're a useful option. This last Summer wasn't as bad as most recent years in London, which was nice, so I did get to stick to shoes for much of it. Picked up a couple of pairs of on-sale Clarks Bushacre boots for damper days and days with a lot of walking, and they did well for that. The first boots I shed in the heat are my engineers - that tall shaft under my jeans keeps a lot of warm air in and shoots it right up my legs.

Bought these White’s 350 Cutter second hand in 8D - my UK size 9 feet fit into these very well - in thick Thorlo socks! First time I’ve tried 55 last and it’s just a tad too roomy for me even in D width.

I’d much prefer my original Smokejumpers in 8.5D - the 4811 last just fits my feet so well.

I love the roughout. I wiped clean the inside with antibacterial spray, then clean water, then leather grease - then wear them at home for half a day to let the heat (and sweat) help the grease to soak into the leather.

Ninety percenter here. I have a few cars that would be a bummer to drive w/ boots on but aside from that I'm happy as a clam to wear boots all the time. Yesterday was a pair of RRL 16" engineers. Today is a pair of Chippewa 11" harness and tomorrow a different pair but boots they will be.

I've walked by a a few pair of boots this morning that had dust on them and haven't rec'd any wear time in a year or so. They'll be hitting the flea market here in the next week or two but they're not anything I'll miss; a few pair of Docs that are impractical for snow and ice country. If you find yourself in a pair of Doc Martens standing on ice know that you're going down.

Eeps, that's two sizes down ,allowing for conversion! US footwear does seem to vary more in sizing than what I'm used to with the English shoes.

Basically boots year round, and then a switch to Birk clogs and Alden loafers when summer hits.

I "discovered" loafers just about a decade ago now. My dad has worn them as his "formal" shoes for decades (the Sixties generation), I never liked them. Maybe that was in part my way of being different. Dad was never a boots guy either, apart from a pair of hiking boots in his Scout leader days. By 2016 I'd had enough of the hassle with shoes and boots on and off at the airport, so I picked up a pair of loafers originally just to fly in - especially long hall, where as well as security, it's nice to be able to kick your shoes off on the plane as well. That sort of morphed into wearing them a bit at destination as well, and I realised I rather liked them. I have a bunch of pairs now, mostly two-tones for the Summer, but also some regulars for warmer, drier days in shoulder seasons. Not great for very wet days or a cold wind round the ankles, but very much my go-to when a low shoe cut is enough to keep me in leather in the heat.

No. I sometimes wear suits to work, so they go with Oxfords (brogues in emergencies). Sometimes I feel like Converse. I might wear Nikes if forced.

I don't even own anything that's not a boot.

In the summer I have 2 pairs of Jim Green Vellie boots ( chukkas ) specifically as my hot weather footwear.

I only wear shoes if I'm wearing shorts, the rest of the time it's boots for me.
