Went to a volunteering day with folks at work. It was a wet wintery day. I wore my trusted Vanson Enfield HH instead of a waterproof shell.
We were asked to cut, collect and move piles and piles of brambles to form a large ring of ‘dead hedge’ to protect heritage trees.
Those brambles piles were so heavily intertwined they became very difficult to pick up with pitch forks - without putting too much strain on lower back.
So I put on protected gloves and ‘hand worked’ them. Nobody else was able to do this as the brambles would easily chew through their down jackets and waterproof shells.
At end of the day I was assessing damage - think the HH jacket held up pretty well given its age being 20-30 years old I think.
