Wait time may be influenced by a particular color, leather or style.
Leather is often purchased in large batches. If you are the only one wanting that combination you may have to wait a lot longer. The builder is not likely willing to order a large stockpile of a particular leather that is not popular. You may be waiting until they get a dozen orders for that combination to make it worthwhile. Certain jacket styles are only made by one or two workers. If the craftsman building your style has a heap of orders you will have a long wait. If they get sick and can't work for a spell it will be even longer.
In this case, you can wait forever.

That's very cool, but a properly run business should be able to factor that in (except for sick leaves). If I order a special leather and they already have other orders that'll use up all of it, they should be aware that mine won't be fulfilled until they get a new batch. If you quote 60 days while knowing you will not even have the materials for my jacket within that time frame, you're already lying to me.

This said, when I ordered my jacket, Theodoros sent me pictures of the available leathers for me to choose. I cannot tell if he already factors in how much leather he will need for an order and already "sets it aside" so 1) he knows when he needs to order more 2) can deliver to his customer asap (even if beyond the initial 60 days quote).
True, however if I have paid 1800e upfront I would expect an email every now and then explaining why instead of the promised 60 days my order finally takes (in my case) 210.
Sadly, this just isn't something that any maker does (to my knowledge). Even big businesses don't give you regular updates on your still standing orders. You always have to be the one reaching out to them asking for updates.

Obviously in a perfect world this wouldn't be like this, but I feel most small makers (not only Theodoros) have a lot of room of improvement in many areas before looking into giving proper update of your orders (a good example I would prioritize would be giving a proper lead time that they can abide to).

I had a long wait on some Nicks boots. The wickett and craig leather was unavailable and the tannery had no clue when the next batch would be ready.

My guess is they don't know what is causing the delay either.
Rather than making up a story you get nothing.
The possibilities are endless. Equipment failure, bad chemicals or lack of chemicals, unavailability of dyes, chemistry and processing may have gone wacky and an entire years supply was ruined. Many things can get out of control in a hurry. Just because something has been easy to obtain in the past doesn't mean it will always be that way. Remember the toilet paper crisis? Being aggravated by it doesn't do anything except maybe wearing out the person who is stressing over it. Just enjoy wearing something you already have in the meantime.

Probably some makers have bad luck with deliveries, equipment failure, bad chemicals... because they systematically deliver their products much later than what they promise (I can name at least 3 makers I know of, one is a favourite here the other two are personae non gratae).
Other makers estimate much better, I guess they are lucky.

True, this is more or less the excuse one of the makers used. If however I have paid 1800e upfront and production time is 3.5 times more than what is given (without any notice) then allow me to feel a bit unpatient.

Maybe you are being too patient. Get a refund and put it towards a new favorite jacket somewhere else in the world.

Cool idea. But what do you do when Thedi tells you because the transaction was cash it’s not legally binding and can’t be refunded?

“Just wear something else you already have “ does not excuse **** poor service and what I would call straight up fraud.

I wouldn’t order a Thedi jacket with found money.

I somehow missed your reply to me last month.
I have received my jacket months ago.
If I were to order a custom jacket again (with the prices makers ask nowadays I highly doubt it) I would probably indeed chose another maker and for reasons that have nothing to do with the delay.

The first pic I’m wearing a t shirt and the rest I’m wearing a thick sweater. The jacket is stiff, it feels like I’m wearing armor. Best jacket I have ever owned quality wise. Also the removable liner was such a great idea. It makes this a 3 season jacket. Really glad I went with this model less

Congrats, the fit is OK.
Don't know where you live but with the interior lining I guess you will only need a shirt.

Once again, Thedi is a master.

Enjoy and wear it with health.

Got this in the mail today, and I must say, the treated horsehide with the aging makes this jacket a dream to wear. The action back also contributes to a good range of motion. Even though it is a bit of a snug fit, i don't feel restricted at all.

It is a drastic difference when compared to my double helix horsehide jacket which gave me small bruises on my arms the first time i tried breaking it in. Don't get me wrong, i still like the process (mostly pain) from breaking in a stiffer horsehide jacket and seeing the progression over years of wear, but you can't beat having a comfortable jacket out of the box. It's just a completely different experience.
