What's everyone's opinion on "popped" shawl collars

Fine on a leather jacket or mackinaw or something. Obviously bizarre on something like a dinner jacket.

Anyone a fan of shawl collars? Any of them being popped? Im thinking about getting an aeromarine....
Just rock your style… most shawl collars I see on leather jackets look really bad to me, though. The Levis Einstein jacket is one of very few with a well executed shawl collar. Most look more like a regular collar with the points cut off and dont form a shawl-like structure around the neck at all.

As always to each his own, but the shawl collar is by far the least appealing to me of all possible options, popped or not. I guess the only thing worse is no callar at all like on those fine creek collarless single riders.

A shawl collar is fine; in terms of early tailoring, it does what double-breasted collars later would. If it’s cold, pop the collar. It depends on circumstance: if it’s cold enough, you’ll pop any collar to shield the neck.

I want to try them, but I haven’t seen them in stores. it looks good on suits. I don’t think it particularly looks good on Leather Jacket.
