doesnt seem like that thread can be found anymore but good to know
It was about an Original Hercules jacket and the guy complaining had ordered it very Vintage-Shirt to begin with and then after break in, it was even shorter and he was happy no more. Turned out said guy was an absolute douch who posted all sorts of demeaning **** about people who hadn't done anything to him.. not taking it any further than that, but yeh, wild times.

I think most people I have spoken to would not mind the RC hercules being a bit shorter haha. If anything I've seen people (including myself) selling it for being too long. To be honest even with the shrinkage it's likely too long for my preference.

I bought the RC Santa Clara instead for this reason

Aero will tell you to just wear the hell out of it, and in a couple of weeks, it'll be broken in. That's my advice as well.

Aero will also tell you that a new Aero jacket doesn't need conditioning, and possibly could go 25 years without needing it. I dunno about that, but I believe they may be right.

I will say though, I've had one or two Aeros that came to me secondhand, which did feel like they'd benefit from a bit of conditioning. I used Peckard's leather conditioner, their antique leather formula. And it really softened up the leather on the first jacket I tried it with. Completely changed the character from a stiff, rigid jacket that would stand on its own, to a jacket that was very pliable and draped very naturally.

Apply it with a rag and rub it in until absorbed, using a hair dryer to warm the leather just enough to get the conditioner to melt and run. You don't need to use a lot of it, just what the leather will absorb, and wipe off the excess.

With a brand new jacket it probably won't be absorbing all that much, because it's already so stuffed with wax and oil. But it might make a difference.
