Poll: Favorite Ribbon Width

As far as fedoras go, What is your favorite ribbon width?

There should be an option to not prefer thick or thin or middle. I think it all depends on the hat. I really like wide ribbons, but I adore the open road types I have seen here too.

After putting up the poll it occured to me that additional broad categories would be good too. I wasn't able to edit the poll however.

I hope this level of specificity won't prevent people from responding. Most of us like a good range of things but many do tend to have preferences.

I just can't handle a wide ribbon. To my eyes, a hat with a wide ribbon shouts "conventional" and "businessman" or "1940s and 50s," and harks back to the days when every businessman had a mandatory hat. When I put on a hat with a wide ribbon, I see it doesn't work for me.

A narrow ribbon is more rakish, which is an effect I like. Borsalino's ribbon size, the 1 1/4 inch, is my favorite so far.

Depends on the hat, doesn't it? But generally, I like medium widths, leaning towards the wider side of the center.

To my eye, it says 'elegant touch of contrasting color/ sheen'.

I tend to prefer from 1" to 1.5" ribbons. Looks good on me. Thin ribbons are great too for a more casual look. I've tried on hats with the really wide ribbons and I just don't like them at all.

I favor the 2" ribbon width and feel it gives a fedora that slightly formal or polished appearance.

It did at bit. It's not quite the bell curve we typically see, but it isn't flat either. Thus far 65% are 1 3/8 or more, while only 35% are 1 1/4 or less.

Same as what I posted on the brim width thread. I wear a wide range of styles so all would apply.

Also Borsalino made / makes hats with all different ribbon widths.

! agree...depends on the hat and the crown height...usually prefer at least 1 1/2...wider of course on my stingy brimmed hats.
