The hat that inspires me the most from that movie is Captain Tom Pickett's. I can't find any screencaps of it with google but I'll bet it's a Stratton Lowrider.
Got an Akubra Territory from David Morgan that lacked the vent holes. A Territory was on the short list back when I first discovered Everything Australian and Aussie Bush Hats online but I decided on a hat without holes in the side of the crown instead. When I saw this one being sold at a...
Movie hats that inspired me to buy? First and foremost, Angel Eyes hat from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. First hat I ever bought was a black Stetson Gunfighter with a 3.25 in flat brim and a low telescope crown at Riley and McCormick's in Cowtown. They had a table full on sale for ten bucks a...
Some of my Akubras (size 60) fit perfectly and some are a trifle snug, with one too small. I could stretch it but I think I'll sell it instead. They do seem a bit variable in size in my experience. Lately I've started ordering size 61 since shimming works pretty well. The one I wear the most has...
I think you have the right answer there, Superfine is just not as well sanded as Imperial quality. Being a military work hat, a really smooth finish is less important than on a dress hat
In case anybody is interested, David Morgan has a Territory for sale without vent holes, it's offered at a discount since it's technically a fault.

I've had good luck just wetting the brim with a spray bottle and setting it on a flat surface to dry but I wasn't trying to get it perfectly flat like yours. You did a good job on that hat.

Extreme Prejudice had some great hats;
Cash Bailey and Jack Benteen
Hank Pearson and Jack Benteen
Larry McRose
Not to mention all the battered hats worn by extras in the Mexico scenes
I think you are overestimating the height of the crown on that Border. I reckon it's 4 to 4.5 inches at the front. There's a similar hat available from Golders of Toowoomba;

I hope this answer isn't too late to do you any good
That's true, they must have dragged it around behind a ute for miles to get that much character. This is the Border for those who don't remember it.
Sadly no longer made. In fact they stopped making it just before I decided I couldn't live without one. It even came in my favourite Akubra...
I hope this is the right thread for this question. Does anybody know which Akubra the villain wears in Wolf Creek? Looks like it could be an Akubra Border to me.
