With the braces with waistcoat thing, undo the braces at the back of the trousers and there is enough give to sit, do your business and then it is just a matter of doing the back buttons back up. No need to remove the waistcoat. Can be a bit fiddly at first, but then you get it down to a fine art.
If your suspenders or braces have leather ends, then you should generally match the ends to your shoes. Black with black, brown with brown and so on...
