I said tea-core for humour. My point is that the TFL preference for graininess, matte texture, etc aren't really the aim with this leather nor a mark of it lacking in quality.
You need to take the tea-core TFL blinders off.
Like @Tom71 says the shiny hides (originally cow, now horse) and sheepskin hides are the signature LL look. The black veg tan looks nice but it's not really the LL look. Remember that these are designs of the late 50s at earliest, mostly of the...
Your photos don't show any damage but going off of your text, there seems to be an issue.
I haven't had a zipper issue on my modern (or vintage) Perfectos, including factory seconds (Schott actually sells faulty zipper jackets for like $100 in the factory sale) so it sounds like you were...
The chrome tannage (and consequent water resistance) are a shared characteristic with the vintage stuff, but the sheer thickness of LW and CXL hides, or the even thicker ones special ordered from Johnson by TFL members, puts them in a different category.
No. Stu says himself his stuff is stronger than the originals.
No one was using hides that thick for jackets back in the day, except a few Cals. Aero ushered in this era of super heavy hides on jackets, but it's not what people were wearing in the heyday.
The closest hides I've worn to my...
The issue isn't wide vs narrow; it's the symbolic zipper. I have the opposite problem on my Field jacket where the cuff is snug but there's an extra (purely visual) button for additional cinching.
Both angles have precedents in leather jackets. It's a design/ergonomics thing. Schott used the...
At the end of the day it's a budget brand making high quality stuff; she's going to be finding her footing through these oversights. I get the sense she does note them and fix things accordingly instead of being defensive.
I do find it amusing how I brought RW to TFL and caused it to blow up...
I'm joking but I don't think a general market crowd would expect a zipped cuff to be wide; people understand the purpose of zippers and zippered cuffs are pretty common in mainstream clothing like Barbour International jackets (and their clones). It's a mistake but can be fixed.
Just the USAF. (Btw if this could be moved to our general QA thread it would be great.)
Navy and AF procurement generally remained separate for a while despite the occasional attempts at combining.
