No worries, the finish of the leather is what's important. From a mechanical perspective, todays motorcycles don't spill and leak fluid like vtg ones. I ride with a Rainbow Country A-2 RW cut and as long as I wipe it clean once in a while its all good. Off road is a totally different...
Wow! Both your N-3A's are in superb condition. I think the ''short'' sleeves were by design and meant to be worn with the heavy N-4A mittens that required enough space to cover up the wrist and forearm, longer sleeve would get in the way... just a idea from experience.

Then you may have to consider the cut and pattern of a B-6. That beautiful Eastman B-3 is within the original pattern. They were design to protect the owner from the harsh elements of sub zero temp way up there in the skies.
I prefer the lighter cut of a B-6's personally.
