Arthur & George by Julian Barnes, about Arthur Conan Doyle and The Great Wyrley Outrages in the early 1900s. Its encouraging me to re-read the Holmes cannon, which I've not done since Secondary school
Not played a board game for ages!
We have Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, a Chess set, and of course playing cards at home.
I love Monopoly, that is a great winter evening / weekend game. My parents had a really old (60s?) edition of Monopoly.
Do jigsaws count?
Kishtu has started referring to the back bedroom / study as "my" room. It has a ton of books, my model making stuff and models to build in it. I might post a picture up if I can get it presentable enough.
I still don't feel as though it is "my" room, but then I am the only one who uses it...
Just seen this on the BBC web site, announcing the death of the pilot of the Enola Gay, at the age of 92

Hi all
Kishtu and I have been hearing in the news media about these wildfires currently sweeping California.
Our thoughts are with any FLers or their families who have been evacuated or are affected by this event. Its difficult in the UK to comprehend the scale of destruction that can...
The Dam Busters - watched the DVD on Sunday afternoon.
Inspiring stuff, in spite of the inaccuracies. We were thinking of going to see Brief Encounter at the cinema in town tonight, but its p***ing down here so don't think we'll bother.
Apologies if this has already been discussed!
Watched this on DVD on Saturday evening, the film based on the book by Richard Harris about the WWII Code Breakers at Bletchley Park, the forerunner of GCHQ.
Excellent film, full of period detail, good costumes, etc. But not a patch on the book...

New to this thread, but not new to FL. Me dressed up when I went to see Casablanca the other week. I am wearing a TM Lewin pinstripe, a TM Lewin shirt, cufflinks courtesy of Vintage Betty and a Trilby, I know its indoors but...
I am now after an overcoat and a long, black umbrella.
My grandfather was a tailor by trade. I have inherited a tuxedo, a donegal tweed jacket, and a tweed sports coat from him. All of them contain the label "John W Mills, Sidcup and Bexleyheath". They fit me perfectly so we must have been of a similar build. The tux must be at least 40 years old...
Dear all
I thought I should draw your attention to this little gem of a museum dedicated to the aircraft of the Battle of Britain, fought over the skies of Kent in 1940. The museum, run by volunteers and donations has a permanent display of Battle of Britain memorabilia, a tea room and hosts...
Here's looking at you kid...
I think you will find, kid, that they left before the picture even started.
Its a lovely film though, first time I have seen it. Thoroughly enjoyable, the soundtrack will be winging its way to us from a certain online retailer shortly...
And yes, a lot of...
