Took that ELC A-1 out to London at the weekend and it’s now wearing a couple of new stains, don’t give a monkeys these days, just rub the stain on the Capeskin with my fingers and forget about it ..…. patina
Got the Pando Commando vest and have been riding in the UK current heatwave with it over the top of a T shirt. Nice and cool but triple AAA protection…
5* did a nice clone Trucker for me but the two customs really didn’t work out and I wouldn’t have a third go. Back to saving longer and Eastmans in my case. Good advice given above by very experienced folk.
Ruined a lovely ELC Hartman jacket by altering, great tailor and well executed, sleeves shortened from the shoulder end, altered the shoulders fit & then it didn’t really fit anymore despite sleeves ending up the right length. A road I’d avoid if possible though I have had some success stories...
Modern commercial used Alpha N3Bs are cheap generally over here, some big department stores sold them for a while so easily procured from flea Bay. Picked up a USA made one in black for a song. Looks good on and reasonable construction but too light for real cold use as not much insulation
Great to see this thread, I mainly use Pike Brothers for my vintage style clothing, lots of pants, shirts and T shirts, Pike are my go to. My second team are Cathcart London who also produce some great vintage style clothes.
I’d only go down that route if I was getting 5* to clone a jacket that I’d physically sent them. I invested a lot in materials for a custom G-1 and the hide was the only part they were supplying. I sent measurements from a Star Sportswear G-1, my sourced zipper, mouton, lining, knits etc and...
