Thurston Italian Vicenza Horsehide Full Grain Veg.-Tanned Horsehide for Aero Jackets

Hi all, been a long, long time - years since I perused these exalted forums. I am thinking of kicking the tires on a new jacket, and the lighter weight vicenza HH might be the right path given that I'm now 15 years older than when I bought my last Aero and my shoulders can't carry the weight of...

    Superdry jackets???

I have my two FQHH from Aero, whom I acknowledge as the premier leather jacket maker in the world, but am getting old and with my shoulder failing, cannot sustain the weight of the Stockman and will probably look to sell it in the near future. The Highwayman is a family heirloom and that will...

How to age (or destroy?) a CXL FQHH Highwayman (pic heavy)

Will it fit in your dryer? If so, you might need to toss in bricks instead of tennis balls to give it that "south side of chicago worn-in look"... ;)

How to age (or destroy?) a CXL FQHH Highwayman (pic heavy)

The reality is that artificial aging of the jackets is going to be a controversial subject, with the "traditionalists", for lack of a better term, preferring to age their jackets purely or primarily through wearing them, and they will feel that any efforts to "manufacture" that wear is apostasy...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Sadly none, its 90 degrees here.... :( But next week the temps will be seasonal in the 50/60s, which means the new acquisition will make its inaugural appearance. :)

Suede trucker - can you suggest an alternative?

Here's a few pics of your humble narrator's newest leather acquisition:

Suede trucker - can you suggest an alternative?

UPDATE: Ok, so I went through the suggestions and links here, checked them over and strongly considered Wested, who I knew well from my Indy jacket days and their reputation is very good - they are known for making great jackets at reasonable prices. However, I opted not to go in that...

Suede trucker - can you suggest an alternative?

Those jackets are ten years old? I wonder what condition the suede is in at this point, the page does mention some soiling but that would be a concern. Doesn't matter for me, I am a 40-42 regular.

Suede trucker - can you suggest an alternative?

I should have mentioned I'm looking at new product only, not used. Sorry.

Suede trucker - can you suggest an alternative?

Funny about the other trucker thread, I guess they are getting popular again. Anyway, I have two Aero FQHHs that are perfect and take me through the colder weather - and that I will take to the grave (though the Stockman is getting a bit heavy on my aging shoulders if I wear it for hours at a...

An Aero 'car coat' as first quality jacket?

No doubt, this kind of thing comes down to personal preferance, like vanilla vs. chocolate ice cream, which is why it is so, so important for a new/first-time buyer purchasing their first jacket they want to hang on to and enjoy for a lifetime to educate themselves on as many perspectives as...

An Aero 'car coat' as first quality jacket?

Well, it has been a long, long time since I've been here...I guess the OP is lucky I just so happened to drop by as I have some advice that might be helpful having worn my two Aeros for almost ten years now. My first one was a Stockman bought new in 2008 (bought a Highwayman 2 years later) -...

    Short Highwayman Jacket

I am 5-10.5 and my HWM is exactly 23" from the bottom edge of the folded collar to the edge of the bottom of the jack, and it fits perfectly. If you are measuring from the top of the collar, then it is 25", so I get it depends where on the jacket you are measuring.

Question on stockman vs cheyenne vs veste

I have a Stockman that I had slightly shortened by about an inch or two (bought in back in 2008) and while it is a heavy jacket, it can be worn without it feeling overly punishing. I would not use it if I was going to be strolling around all day long, say on vacation for a visit to a museum as...

    Frackin' Weather!!!!

I am fearful that as the years progress, warm weather clothing - like our prized leather jackets - will be needed for fewer and fewer months per year. 40 years ago as a kid I remember October through April being rather cold months, now you are lucky to need a jacket from December to February...
