What Did You Drink Last Night?

I could certainly taste it, and it helped keep it from being too sweet. I loved it. Then again, I tend to love all sours…

    GAMERS of the Lounge!

I'm resurrecting this thread only to point out that the OP (Diamondback) recognized me by my username on an unrelated board gaming forum, when I was introducing myself over there. It reminded me that I haven't posted here in a while!

So when did the boater sink from popular wear?

Hmm, I was just thinking of picking up a boater, for some 1880's steampunkery.

    What's a good entry-level single malt?

A bar is a good bet, for sampling. Try various highlands, lowlands, and perhaps speysides, while avoiding the Islays (although it doesn't hurt to try one or two to confirm that you won't like 'em). I'd also skip things like cask strength versions, port wood finishes, etc. - not because those...

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Heh, a Negroni is equal parts gin, vermouth, and Campari, served with an orange peel. :)

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Heh. They recommended it based on my liking of the Negroni, which is a bitter cocktail. It was interesting indeed! A bit bitter like the negroni, but then I'd get some of the plum, which reminded me greatly of haw flakes.

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Last night - well, nothing, really. But last Thursday, while in LA on business, I made it to the Tar Pit. I had a sidecar, a Last Word (gin + lime juice + green Chartreuse + maraschino liqueur) - which was delicious - and a Black Summer (Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Cynar, Muddled Plums). Great...

    Bit of Drinking Advice

Beer before Liquor, couldn't be sicker. Liquor before beer, everything's clear. That's how I heard it. I've always assumed that it's for folks who can't keep track. It's easy to drink too much hard alcohol, as it can be packed into small amounts or well disguised. Beer, on the other hand...

    The Great Beer Thread

Haven't had Pliny the Elder yet, but I've had Consecration and Damnation from Russian River. I'd pretty much try anything by them now.

Shame on me, but I need a bottled mix or two

I think you've made the right decision. Unless you plan on stocking up very extensively, and working the whole night, I'd say you should settle on one to three specialty drinks that match your theme, and pre-mix as much as possible.

    Bit of Drinking Advice

I'm thinking lately of spending some good research time figuring out what proportions I like best for my sidecars.

Help from a Brazilian FLer, Perhaps?

Well, I found one called "Ate Quem Sabe", but am not sure it's the correct one. It's on this page, with the sheet music for flute. Another possibility would be this guitar music collection. It claims to include "Quem Sabe" by "CARLOS GOMES". Hmmm, this PDF might also be what you are looking for.
