    What Are You Reading

Continuing my trend pf presidential biographies, I just finished Woodrow Wilson by John Milton Cooper, Jr. I found him a MUCH more attractive and sympathetic character than I expected. He is a VERY important president for many reasons. Among many fascinating things I learned was the...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

FINALLY saw Truffait's first film, The 400 Blows. That was devastating, but wonderful. I also got several old Jacques Tati films on DVD, including the 1957 Mon Oncle, and his first full length film Jour de Fetes, from 1949, and Trafic, from 1971. All HIGHLY recommended.

Who Did You Just See Live?

I caught two phenomenal concerts in the last month. On February 12th I had the privilege of catching the 90th Anniversary of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, at the Town Hall in Manhattan. It was presented by the great Vince Giordano and his Nighthawks, augmented by extra brass and strings...

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

Saw Last Year in Marienbad back in the 60s when I was about 15. Blew my mind, and permanently changed the way I perceive reality. Great artist.

    My Wooden Canoe

Absolutely gorgeous canoe. Regarding Margaret Rutherford's Miss Marple, the movies are great fun, but her Miss Marple is very far from Agatha Christie's character. Dame Agatha always said she thought Joan Hickson was the perfect Miss Marple.

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

Michele Savoia, talented tailor and designer. In New York, if you wanted the real look high waisted trousers, and suits, Savoia was the guy to go to. Terrible loss. http://nypost.com/2014/02/16/fashion-designer-michele-savoia-found-dead-near-yacht/
