    Paul Drake's Sunglasses?

Hi All, I have been bingeing on the original Perry Mason series for the last few weeks and have come to the realization that in the late 50's/early 60's, literally everyone in southern California drove a convertible Thunderbird (if they couldn't find a Lincoln)! Tonight I was...

    Celebs on Slabs?

I'm having a little difficulty placing this location. Celebrity portraits cast into sidewalk concrete (or tiles). I found one site claimed it as "Rita Moreno Hollywood Blvd. Feb 1956" (perhaps Dean Martin just behind her?)but, having been on that street many times, I have never seen this...

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

I was at a dinner function with Dawn Wells a few years ago. We talked for quite a while. She was a very sweet girl and pleasure to visit with. Regarding the Ginger vs. Mary Ann issue, I'm the exception that proves the rule; I am a Ginger guy. (Of course I did not share this info with Dawn). ;)

    Most overrated movies?

It's a Wonderful Life. Jimmy Stewart's endless whining just grates on me to no end. Followed closely by The Spirit of St. Louis (which by coincidence is also a Stewart film) for the worst casting ever. There was just no hiding the fact that the boyish 25 year old Lindbergh was being portrayed...

    Ice Box?

Hmmmm? I think that is a very good guess Liz, thanks. I didn't think of that because of the card stock thickness rather than paper label feel of the this piece. But it makes perfect sense.

    Ice Box?

This is interesting. This morning I moved the icebox and found this small label piece underneath. It can only have come from the icebox. Perhaps a model number? It is made of light card stock, measures approx. 2 1/2 inches long, has a faded yellow border line. Looks/feels to be very old and...

    Ice Box?

Thank you both. I will search those manufacturer names to see if I find a match. Liz, thank you for the tips on usage. I don't think I'll gamble on storing meat inside. Probably just beverages, maybe a cigar or two? Cheers, Ed

    Ice Box?

Thanks for the input. The picture I posted may be a little deceiving. When I got it today it was very dusty and extremely dry, pale looking and dull. I dusted it off and put a couple good coats of Lemon Pledge on it. The first couple coats soaked right in but darkened the oak nicely right away...

    Ice Box?

Hi All, Today I came into possession of a very nice old ice box. Of course I would like to know more about it, age, brand, etc. It contains no label or maker's badge. An online search did not come up with a solid site for reference nor a picture of one that looks like mine; close...

    Luggage?

Thanks all. 3fingers, I have looked at several Samsonite sets and I agree, they are of a very nice quality and offered in a good array of color choices. In particular I have looked at a few American Tourister sets and I'm trying to figure out the differences in some of their lines/models . Like...

    Luggage?

Hi All, I am on the (casual) search for some vintage luggage and I'm wondering if there is source for information regarding different American brands, models and their quality? I am interested in the time period 1940's-1960's if that should make any difference. As a long shot I...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?
