    Bailey "Big 'Un"

During the years when Tony Alamo had his Western clothing store in downtown Nashville, I seem to remember that one of the more popular hat styles that they carried was known as "The Big "Un." I remember that it was made by Bailey, and it had a high crown and a wide brim. Several years ago, I...

    Cowboy Boots

Here is a series of pictures of what I believe is a Tony Lama women's style which is currently being offered for sale on Instagram, username "bootitude." As you can see, the blue is so vibrant, so deep and rich, that it's almost violet! If I could afford it, I'd have somebody like Rocketbuster...

List of Custom, made-to-order, Fur Felt Fedora hatmakers and hatters

Is there a list of custom bespoke WESTERN hat makers on this site?

    Western, anyone?

How wide is the brim? If it's a real Tom Mix, it ought to be at least 5 inches!

    Western, anyone?

As it happens, I have owned and worn straw and palm leaf hats with 6-1/2 inch and 7-inch brims--and I LOVE them! By the way, my current hat is a Rodeo King 7X with a 5-inch brim--in a size 7-7/8 (by their reckoning)! I should mention, though, that one reason I want such a big hat is that I...

    Western, anyone?

Did that "build your own hat" thread go as far as how to create an actual hat body as such? I've been wanting to get a cowboy hat with a 7-inch brim AND a 7-in crown for years, only to be told that the oversized hat bodies that would be needed for such a hat are no longer being manufactured I...

    Western, anyone?

WOW! NICE!! What size is it, how high is the crown, and how wide is the brim, if you don't mind my asking?

    Western, anyone?

Since the period prior to the 70's, and especially prior to WWII, the market for really BIG hats has shrunk considerably. This trend was shrunk even further by the influence of country superstar George Strait, who has consistently chosen to wear more conservative cowboy hat styles with 4-inch...

    Western, anyone?

Hiya, folks! I know it's been a while since I've been on this thread, but now I'm back! Here's a picture of my ideal hat. It was formerly made by the Jackson Hole Hat Company, but had to be discontinued because they could no longer obtain the extra-large hat bodies required for such a massive...

List of Custom, made-to-order, Fur Felt Fedora hatmakers and hatters

How do I go about sending a PM on this forum? I'm still new here, so I'm not familiar with all of the ins and outs, so to speak!

List of Custom, made-to-order, Fur Felt Fedora hatmakers and hatters

I found their website, and it looks like they might have one or two hat bodies that might meet my requirements. The problem is that they're a wholesale firm, as far as I can determine. How would I proceed if I wanted to order a hat body or two and have them made into finished hats?

List of Custom, made-to-order, Fur Felt Fedora hatmakers and hatters

I hope this isn't entirely off-topic but this thread IS devoted to custom hats, so here goes. Several years ago, there was a hat style known as the "Buckarette," with a wide brim and a high crown, offered by Jackson Hole Hat Company. At the time, the brim width was listed as 6-1/2 inches...

    Western, anyone?

Some years ago, back when "Dallas" was all the rage on TV and the infamous Tony Alamo had his Western clothing store on lower Broadway in downtown Nashville, there was a wide-brimmed cowboy hat known as "The Big'Un." I believe it was made by Bailey, but their corporate archives don't go back...

    Western, anyone?

Here's a picture of the hat I'd like to get some day--with a 7-inch brim AND a 7-inch crown! One difference, though--in place of the elk horn button on the original hatband, I'd want conchos--BIG conchos--preferably studded with turquoise! Extravagant, I know--but a guy CAN dream, can't he? :D

Western Ranch Outfitters / Stockmens Catalogs

When did WRO go out of business? I seem to remember getting their catalogs during the early 70's. Fred Mueller closed their mail order operation no later than 1975, if I recall correctly.
