1940 ford coupe is not at the top of its game, issues with columbia rear end

Agree with carb issue... float check, needle valve, etc. If it's a stock flattie 40 like mine than the choke is manual, so that shouldn't be an issue. Also I would check fuel filter if there is an inline filter added on or if the carb you're using has a filter stone built in. I had a problem...

Sounds easy when you say it fast! I started out with just getting my house back to the original layout and then went from there. Just from that process I found an original fireplace plastered over I didn't know about and a butler staircase that was closed off. I still laugh at the listing add...

Wow, that would be a great house restored! I always wanted a turret :) It's a shame how many of these have been broken up like that. The historic district I live in is full of them. The work to bring one back though is endless! :eeek: I'm 8 years and counting into taking a 6 bedroom four square...

Well it pays to think outside the box... your kitchen proves that. Great job! Now start hunting for that stove :p

The tank, bowl, and flush handle are original. Can't remember the make but it's not one you see often. The pipe, oak seat, and the works inside the tank are new. I can see where the names came from... It definitely has an intimidating gravity assist power flush!! This thing laughs at the new...

What do you do for Living?

I make electricity... power plant electrician / controls tech. Also buy and sell antiques I pick up at local auctions on the side. Buying is easy, but parting with most of the finds is the hard part! :)

Thanks! :) I'm definitely happy how it turned out. If I remember right, the floor is Armstrong linoleum tiles I ordered from Lowes. I still need to paint the chairs and the swinging door to the dining room that I put back as original.

No, new to FL still... but here's a tour :) This was originally a 12' x 12' kitchen with 5 doorways and a hug window, not sure where you did any prep work? There was a pantry room and a mudroom behind and an open porch entrance. When it became an apartment they made the porch and half the...

Wow, great job on the kitchen and great color choices Rue!! Agree with everyone, I love the nook. Gas stoves are not too bad to work on and there are a few good sources online for vintage stove parts and getting the oven thermostats rebuilt. I ended up finding a 1952 O'keefe & Merritt for my...

Buy New, Vintage or Victorian Home?

Exactly what Rue said... my house was built in 1906 and the bulk of the issues with it have been undoing the "improvements" done in the 1970's. A victorian that hasn't been messed with is the way to go... but a close 2nd would be a nice arts & crafts bungalow.

Nice pic! That's a clean studebaker. The 55 I plan to make a nice problem free cruiser. There was no drivetrain with it other than a later 10 bolt GM rear. So picked up a 4 speed Muncie cheap from a guy at work which I'll use with an old school hurst bench seat style shifter. The motor will...

New to the FL (great site!) and just saying hey to the car crowd. You guys have some nice rides on here! I too have the car bug (and pretty much everything else old!) and am lucky enough to have both of my bucket list cars to restore. The first is a 55 Bel Air hardtop. Picked this up 4 yrs ago...
