    Jeans

Jeans definitely don't show dirt all that much... I have numerous pairs of what others have called "exclusive" denim lines, and really love them all. For cheap, durable jeans, you really can't go wrong with the shrink-to-fit 501. They can be found almost anywhere, and will last a long time...

    Jeans

What are the natural indigo jeans? I love the color and variation in the fabric.

    Let's be honest here.....

Over the last year or so my footwear choices have narrowed to minimalist or leather soled. I've done a lot of reading on walking/running (including scientific publications) and how to do it properly, and so I've gone entirely to shoes with as little structure/support as possible. Over the...

Size standards changed for US clothing?

The inseam you need can be greatly affected by the rise of the pants. It's possible that the pants you have now have a much longer rise, causing the crotch to hang a bit lower, making the inseam seem longer.

Size standards changed for US clothing?

I haven't noticed any changes at all in widths, and believe me when I say that I've looked. Buying new shoes tends to be at minimum a month-long expedition for me, sometimes as much as three months of going to try on shoes every weekend. The only change that I've seen is that more companies...

"National Retail Clothier" Magazine, Dec. 15, 1927

I find it particularly funny that they tell you to look at a picture of people sitting in the stands of a baseball game to see how much blue there is, except that it's a black and white photo... Also, I was rather shocked to see an add for an Izod sweater. I would never have figured they...

    Jeans

I believe that the 1947 runs true to the tagged size. So, if you're actually a 32x34, then you'd probably need a 33x36 or so to account for the shrinkage. As for the use of selvage, I believe you are correct that they stopped using it in 1983.

    The Money Clip

I stopped carrying a wallet a few years ago, and have found money clips to be far better. I actually carry two with me at most all times. One with nothing but my most used credit card, driver's licence, insurance card, and DC Metro card (since it has to be pulled out around 4-6 times every...

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

They look really nice. Can you tell me how they feel new vs. broken in a couple of months? I've been looking around for boots like this (though it may take a while to save up for these) and am curious how comfortable boots like this usually are when new. Do they have good support? Much...

    Jeans

They look interesting, and could be good, but their description leaves a lot in question. "1940's fit" could be a bit more precise, since jeans were looser at the beginning of the decade and slimmer towards the end. Either way, they should be a straight leg, and the price appears reasonable...

    What are you wearing today??

I suppose I'll be number 3 for the mandolin playing, though as with Alan C, I'd be very out of practice... Otherwise, here are my first couple of pics for this thread. Nothing vintage, unfortunately, but definitely inspired as such. Monday: Tuesday:

    Jeans

I can see where the content of the thread might throw you a bit, then! fatdutchman: I'm not sure what you mean by "dungaree fit" (looser?), but the 501 is a straight leg jean with a regular length rise (up to the natural waist) which comes in a wide variety of sizes, so you should be able to...

    Jeans

I've been interested in trying out a pair of those as well. They feel like they'd be a bit rougher in texture than Levi's, and I like the heavier weight denims.

    Jeans

I've never had it come off on me, though definitely on light colored shoes and laces.

    Jeans

Hehe, it can be awkword to answer some of the questions (and you can get some funny looks). I definitely had a number of people staring at me when I was wearing jeans on the beach because I was going to wash them in the sea. As for the pics, they may show up for most people, but I was...
