It certainly looks worlds better on her than on me. Yeah, I told her that I thought that she should get one, but she's not interested. Lucky for me that I get to keep the hat.
It was only fitting that I got my Fern Cattleman from Brisbane Hatters because it was at this very store where I really saw an Akubra for the first time back in August of 2024. I wanted to get a hat from there at that time but circumstances prevented me from buying one that day. That's another...
With Brisbane Hatters closing, I actually went over there first cuz I didn't even know that the new store was opening that day. The people at Brisbane Hatters told me about the new store opening that very day, and they encouraged me to go over there to check out the full range of Akubras in...
I had my heart set on a Cattleman in sand. I got it in the new branding! It's my first Cattleman. Most of my hats are city hats, but I like this one a lot.
Note the new color of the sweatband. It feels softer than the old ones. New tags for the size and care instructions. Feels great on the...
Ok, well, I'm trying to upload from Japan now. Seems the file extension of .jpeg was part of the problem. I have to upload as .jpg.
Here's the new packaging. These bags are big. Two outer sides have the printing and the other two sides have the embosssed logo. I managed to get it back to Japan...
I don't know, guys. I have a bunch of pics to upload, but I the website keeps giving me some message about the file not being what it expected tho they are just jpgs. I hate to cause suspense, but I cannot upload any more images right now for some reason. Apologies. I have shots of the new...
I'm having trouble uploading photos for some reason. I'm trying to upload the new packaging now. Perhaps I've used my allotment of uploading megabites or something. But the website is not accepting my jpgs. Hmmm. . .
Greetings from Brisbane with lots of Akubra news. First, Brisbane Hatters is closing. You'll see it on their website. Doors close next Tuesday according to the shop keepers I met with this morning.
Second, I arrived in Brisbane for a one-day stay over on my way home to Japan, and as my good...
Some time ago, I posted how I turned a vintage Snowy River into something different. I don't know what to call it, but I 'flattened the brim to make it look somewhat like a cattleman/tablelands. If you dig thru my posts, there are photos. the side brims were seriously cuved up when it arrived in...
So happy to have my new Banjo Paterson! Love it to death! It's a nice crossover hat, and while I prefer to wear it with more casual clothes, I think that it can easily be worn with sport jackets and suits. Stylemasters and Hamptons are my preference for suits and jackets tho in the city. I...
I agree with Intulor. The new owners don't seems to be sabotaging Akubra at all. They are changing distribution channels for what they think is a better way to profit. That means that they are trying for more control. I'm not at all sure if it's a good idea, and I certainly don't like it at all...
Yes, I spoke directly with Trudi at Hats Direct and she said that Hats Direct is one of the shops that will continue to sell Akubras. Not all shops in Australia were allowed to continue selling them.
Lucky you! I've now had four Akubras sent to me here in Japan since September, and got clipped for duty every single time. Average duty was ¥1,600 per hat, so pretty minimal. I've now had hats sent from The Hattery and Everything Australian. The customs agents even open my boxes and held the...
