    Bride's wedding gloves

I wore short gloves for my wedding in September - I wore them for most of our photos, and also wore them down the aisle. Once I reached the altar, I removed them and handed them to my maid of honor. It was very elegant and did not distract from the flow of the ceremony whatsoever. My maid of...

Anyone attending Beatersville? Can't wait to see your outfits!

Hi ladies, Not sure if I should post this here, but I thought it would be lost elsewhere. I'm going to be attending Beatersville in Louisville, KY this coming Sunday, May 30th. I will be vending my vintage-inspired western wear, and I'd love to meet any of you who are attending. Just look for...

    Before and After?

Halloo PS! For the nude-ish lip color I simply used a Rimmel lip pencil that was as close to my natural lip color as possible, then went over it with a bit of very sheer blush-pink lipstick (a bit shiny) - really looks polished without being overdone. Then again, I'm so used to my red lips, that...

American Accents in the Golden Era

Fascinating thread. I have to say that here in Indiana, having been raised in a small town near Indy, I can definitely still tell what part of the state someone is from. Especially after I went to college. Region Rats (Gary/Lake County area) all speak with that nasally Chicago-meets-Minnesota...

    wave clips?

I think I have a few examples in one of my hairsetting books, I'll see if I can post those tonight (if I don't forget!)

    Beauty Marks

I have several marks on my face, three very noticeable on my chin in the same area. Luckily, must of my moles ("beauty marks") are not noticeable when I wear makeup... and they are all placed well to masquerade as beauty marks. However - I was born with the mole gene (thanks Mom!)... there are...

Rollers to avoid (aka Rollers of Death)

Yep, all it took was 1 or 2 hairs to not unwrap properly when I started to unroll the roller, and it was stuck... then tangled! Not fun. I'm trying to find a faster way to do my sets (I've been pincurling forever but would like to try roller sets)... these are a no-go for me.

As if we didn't chat about pin curls enough. . .

I must say that their "results" photo on that page is heinous. Are they trying to sell their product or throw cases of them in the dumpster at the end of the fiscal year? But the device seems so nifty! Probably wouldn't work on my hair either, too long and thick.

Rollers to avoid (aka Rollers of Death)

Thought I might share my recent bad experience with a new set of rollers I bought. I thought it might be good to have a "con" thread for rollers, as it's so hard to wade through all of the info about different rollers. I have fine straight hair, but pretty thick. I bought a set of Jet-Set EZ...

    Vintage Wedding Hair & Traditions?

I've taken to calling myself that on occasion... it just takes a bit of getting used to I guess!

    Vintage Wedding Hair & Traditions?

Oh yes, I can't bear to part with "Miss Jess" - acquaintances also mentioned that they would continue to address me as such, even after my marriage. I guess it's stuck for life!

    Before and After?

Zombi, this is what I posted for VampyGirl - feel free to PM me if you have any further questions! It really is very basic, The most important thing is that you have shorter hair around your ears. miss molly, I combed over quite a bit of the hair from the side covered with the beret to gain...

    Vintage Wedding Hair & Traditions?

From my research for my own wedding, it seems like quite a few women went with a middle part style, softly curled at the bottom - very pretty and feminine. I think that the more elaborate top-heavy hairstyles were not as popular, due to the veil/crown/wreath toppers that most women wore -...
